About
Lost Nation Municipal Golf Course in Willoughby is a player-friendly course that is open year-round. The classic design has appeal for low and high handicappers alike whether you are a beginner who wants some practice or a scratch golfer looking for a casual round. The front nine is relatively flat but the terrain gets more challenging on the back nine. There is also a creek that wanders across the back nine, coming into play on a few holes. The bunkering is minimal throughout the golf course but it's strategically placed. The hole you need to watch out for is the par-4 15th. This challenging 435-yard hole is Lost Nation Municipal Golf Course's no. 1 handicap hole. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and practice putting green available.

Slow play but worth the wait
I haven’t played Lost Nation in over 10 years. We played in a Thursday morning and the course was packed. Front nine took about 2:15, Back nine picked up at 2:10. Course conditions were much improved from what I remember. Greens and fairways in great shape. The city also put some money into the course. Beside the slow play, it was a great day to play a nice basic course. Kudos to the greens keeper and crew.

Pace of play - Need a ranger
Overall the course is in good shape. Staff is friendly and it’s in a good location. Pace of play here is absolutely horrible. 5 holes took 2 hours long. There is never a ranger that keeps the pace of play. It shouldn’t take 6.5 hours to golf 18 with a 2some. Groups were teeing off in a group of 8 (again having a ranger would probably eliminate this). Money value is good if you book a hot deal time but with the pace of play I would advise golfing elsewhere that might be a little more expensive. We had to quit after 6 holes after paying over $130 for a 4some (we only had 2 show).

Come early for range
Arrived 35 minutes early and was told not enough time to use driving range. We then tee’d off about 15 minutes late. Terrible. Makes no sense. Took over three hours to play 9 holes.

Depend on when you play
Course is under major bunker overhaul construction, so many were unplayable. FAIRWAYS and GREENS were in great condition, the rough is definitely the rough. However, the pace was really bad so it depends on when you play.
Would have been nice to have a Marshall drive around the course to push the pace, and witness the group ahead of us driving their cart up two feet by the greens....then holding the pace up like it was their own private course...seemed like the course was more concerned about pushing people out and forgot to manage their play.

Staff is the best
My wife, my son and myself went out and played 9 holes. Great course and great staff. Pace was good. We never had to wait and didn’t feel rushed. The course is close to my home so we play quite a bit there. Never disappointed.

Walking 9
This is a great municipal course for locals. They have a lot of evening leagues and the twilight special is unbeatable. I live and work very close to this course and play it often. It is in great shape and if you're looking for a good quick round, this is the place to play.

Great condition.
Mid summer condition in mid-May. Greens were perfect and play was quick on a Friday.

Good course but.....
This is a fun challenging course. They always have senior leagues that complain about pace of play. Even when moving at a decent pace.. they expect everyone to be a pro on every shot. Then the rude rangers follow your group for the entire round....

A round of golf
Considering all the rain we got, the course was in great condition. Some standing water and cart path only made it a little challenging, but overall great round.

Rude pushy staff
The staff at thus course always act as if they have a problem with you once they see you used golfnow. My group have experienced several times and will not go back again due to this. As far as course, it's an ok course. Average layout. In decent shape usually except after rain. Pace of play is always extremely slow. They do have small driving range.
