Challenge Course
One of my favorite courses in Central Oregon. Always well maintained, and it is a challenge for an average golfer, but still very enjoyable!
Lots of Bang for the Buck
After playing this PAR 63 course a number of times last year I thought I would not 'like' to play it much this year. For a short course (non-Par 5, and some short/shorter holes), this 18 hole course offers plenty of challenges and opportunities to practice all aspects of the game. From the Blue Tees, this course has some Par 4s that require a good drive and a short to mid iron in. The Par 3s from the Blues also require some mid irons. The greens were in good condition given the time of year and the pace of play was superb. I finished in under 3 hours. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for (a) a shorter round, (b) someone who is looking to work on his/her short game - NOTE - all greens have good approaches, sand traps, some water and YES - real 'par 72' size greens. But again, there's a couple opportunities to hit Driver of the tee and 3 wood all day long.
A mid- iron short course
Obviously it was March and luckily the weather was good and sunny at 55 degrees! The greens where still somewhat less than adequate - no ball cleaners or water coolers and the beverage cart only came to us at the 16th hole...pretty poor planning!
Over-all, this is a fun course, especially for baby boomers who are "improving their game" after working a long career!
I would play this course again...even if the $16.00 per person to ride a cart is excessive in my opinion! The F&B venue is terrible!
lives up to its name
I like the course, and have played it about 7-8 times. A good healthy walk( I am almost 74 yrs). Had 3 birdies, and played one over. It is a good test of accuracy off the tee, and your short game...both chipping and putting. Oh, and sand, even though I wasn't in any traps this day. Lots of them, and pretty tough.
Fun short course
My wife and I played here for the 2nd time, course in decent shape, only 2 hrs 50 minutes walking…we caught up to the foursome ahead of us at the 9th, which slowed us down a bit, but pace was good. Lots of par 3's and short par 4's…fun round!
Still a Favorite
One can enjoy a quick 18 holes of challenging golf here. Every hole is unique. In winter shape now, but still worth the money.
Great Value
The greens were a little wet, but overall very nice course. I wish the pin flags were normal height, pretty hard to judge distance.
Fabulous challenge course!!
Great course, I've recommended to many!!
Even tho it is a par 3 course, I feel it is one of the best
in Central Oregon.
slick greens
The challenge is always great fun to play. The course was in exellent shape, and the greens were slick the day I played it. Went from the purple tees which bounce you all over the place, you use all of the tees when going from the purple tees. The weather was great for this time of year. We saw numerous deer on nearly every hole. It was,as usual, a great experience.
fun to play
course was in great condition, greens we fast and undulating. not busy so we when our own pace.
Great warm up course with a challenge. The staff worked with me to adjust my tee time and in the end this was a very pleasant day.
Shot course but each hole can be a challenge. To get in 18 holes and in less than 4 hours this is the course to play.
A challenging and fun short course that requires use of most of the clubs in your bag
Truly a fun course that presents a challenge because of slopes and contours and the need to use all clubs - even driver!
Greens are well maintained, quick and somewhat tricky and rough was high and difficult when the ball settled.
The Challenge is a great place for a 3-3 1/2 hour round, walkable for the fit but involves some short climbs and is a fair value, and a super value on some tee-times.
Would recommend to any player except those who want to boom driver on 14 holes because you can only hit driver on 4-5 holes.
A very fair challenge for any level of player
Every hole is different with plenty of risk/reward shot potentials
Great for kids with some playing time under their belt.
Great for kids with some playing time under their belt. Holes from the red tees are just perfect. While the blue tees will challenge the good players.
outstanding features
don't let the shortness fool you; this course has every feature imaginable and all will challenge your game. Good luck!!
The course was all that I expected and more.
This course is great for the senior player who can no longer pound the ball. Course management is a must on this track and you will be rewarded with a very satisfying round. It is well maintained and the greens are moderate speed with a good true roll of the ball.
Beautiful course and great views.
For an executive course it is a bit expensive, especially after you include your cart.
Good experence
Tight fairways, leads to small, very quick greens. Bunkers held good sand, thank goodness I found only two. You must keep the ball in the fairway and use the black (100 yd) marker as your guide to where you hit the ball, then your second shot is easy.
Great course for players of all levels.
I am an 18 handicapper and my wife has been playing less than a year. This course provided a fun and challenging experience for both of us. The course is in beautiful shape and is the best "executive" course I have ever played due to the variety of distances, traps, and general layout. I would recommend it to players of any and all levels.
Fun Course
The course is a fun and challenging executive course Alternating par 3 and par 4 holes, all of which are interesting. Nice layout and beautiful views
