Poor course conditions
A lot of spots on the course were greatly over watered and the turf was way to wet and there was actually standing water in some places. The greens were very rough.
Fun course!
First time playing this course, it's somewhat challenging but a very fun and beautiful course to play. Will definitely go back to play the 2nd time!
The course condition is great except the green surface. many brown spots and ball marks on the green.
Course is not maintained well, and unbelievably noisy
Get on the first tee, and a green sleeper is working on the sprinklers. There are wet grass clippings all over the "fairway" it is am elevated tee box and your ball will stop in it's tacks on the fairway because it is so wet. As we are approaching the green for pitch shot, the sprinklers come to life and startle one of the players in her backswing. We get to hole two, and the green sleeper turns on a sprinkler between us and the fairway. Luckily none of us hit into the sprinkling area. The course was soggy be on almost every hole. They must not know how to irrigate properly, because it doesn't rain that much in Bend. The greens are pot marked, so it's a bumpy ride. Not only is it a mess on fairways and greens, but there is constant construction of new homes being built along the course, so be prepared for hammering and banging through the front nine. Then you hit the back nine, and they are moving earth and pile driving things into the ground, so now you have industrial banging, beeping of earth movers backing up, and other extremely loud noises. It was so loud that on the tenth green you could not talk to one another, you had to scream at each other. Now I understand that the course is not responsible for any construction that is being done by other entities, but maybe let us know that beforehand, or offer discounted rates. Another issue is the poor signage for where the next hole is. I believe it is going from hole eight to hole nine. You have to drive your golf carts across a busy road where cars are going 35 miles an hour, and you have to gun it at just the right moment to not get hit by a car. Then after you survive that you end up in a residential neighborhood and have to hope your going the right way to get to nine. Wt finally said enough with this course and all the noise and turned around after hole 13 and drove back through 12, 11, and, 10 and packed up and left. We will never play there again. Previous day, played Widgi Creek, lovely course, nice greens, and very peaceful. If you go to Bend, don't play Rivers Edge, Widgi is better by a long shot, and was cheaper too. Rivers Edge golf course is dead to me.
Fun Course
A lot of up and down makes this a difficult course to walk. Beautiful views. Course in good shape with fast greens.
fun round at Rivers Edge
great weather and a fun course (although a challenging walk)
Challenging course with mountain views
Fantastic course layout, challenge and view. Although I am relatively fit for my age, I do not recommend walking this course unless you only do 9 holes. Considering all the precautions against COVID-19, the staff was friendly and helpful; but of course, facilities were not open. We also rented clubs but as a 68 year-old 5'2" female, a set of men's clubs with metal shafts did not help my round. Next time I will either bring my own clubs or not golf.
Lots of blind tee shots but overall a fun course to play
Enjoyed our round. Course knowledge would be very helpful. As there are a lot of blind tee shots.
a good ride spoiled
Like the course but would have liked to have known ahead of time the course grounds are under major construction to develop new streets and houses. Think massive hydraulic rock crushers , bulldozers , dump trucks, and home construction tools, in the middle of the course. Ruined a good day.
would not recommend as a walking course unless you are really in shape. Lots of extreme elevation changes. Fully supports slope ratings from any tee box. Course was well maintained.
Pace of play ruined a overall great experience
Pace of play was the worst I’ve experienced. 5.5 hrs! Made for a frustrating day.
Very hilly interesting course.liked it. Challenging.
Condition was good and as expected in this price range.
One foursome ahead of us was sharing one set of clubs between three of them.
Good Workout to Walk, Lots of Interesting Holes
This course was a good workout to walk, with a lot of elevation changes being on the foothills of the Bend area, and I played on a weekday - I would probably not walk it on a weekend morning in the spirit of not wanting to slow down play as there are a few lengthy green-to-next-teebox distances. I enjoyed the variation in holes as none seemed the same with various elevation changes and dog legs, some blind shots. Course in nice shape and greens true and fast. Played with a nice local gent who provided local course knowledge. Staff was friendly and got me out right away on a fairly busy Fri afternoon. Fairly tight fairways for the need of accurate shots off the tee and no room for wayward shots. I would definitely play here again when in Bend. Price was inexpensive and good value. No push cart to rent, so if you walk you gotta carry or bring own push cart.
Nice Course
Enjoyed the course but cannot imagine walking it since there was lots of up and down. Unfortunately we got behind a four-some that was extremely slow (2 people just played poorly) At the 16th hole they finally let us play through. There were a lot of bare spots where with no grass (even on the green) but I think it is early in the season so they will fill in.
Great course
Rivers Edge is great. Challenging and great layout. Not easy, but a fun course.
Great Local Course
The course is a very well kept public course. Beautiful location! Challenging course - shot selection even off the tee is important.
