South Shore Golf Course

This place is a nightmare. Pace of play is terrible. Starters let guys go out regardless of tee times and they book tee times every five minutes. There’s no water for drinking on the course anywhere and the snack bar at the turn was closed. No cart girls either. This course charges top dollar (70$ and up) to play you can go out to jersey and play some nice public courses with much better pace of play and much better conditions. I was also told by the gentlemen at the desk that they are not offering rain checks if it starts to rain. I asked him if I pay and two holes in it starts raining that just means I’m out of luck? He replied unfortunately yes.

This Course has a good layout and some subtle breaks on the greens. Did not care for some of the blind tee shots, so if you are unfamiliar with the course you may get into trouble. Greens have subtle breaks but are manageable but not consistent in speed throughout. Local knowledge helps but a decent Golfer can walk away with a low score here. I was 1 over on the front and then the wait started on the back with quite a few lost balls for the group in front of me. Did not end well as frustration kicked in and I started to make some errant tee shots and ended the day at 13 over. overall not a bad track if the price is right, but you will wait at some point and time. Most of the players I ran into are very friendly except for one guy who thought he owned the course and blamed me for slow play even though I was a single behind all foursomes. Couldn't play through as i would not get anywhere yet he thought different. Local course for Local players, not sure if I would go back but I am glad to have played it.

The course was in good shape . The greens were in good shape . The pace of play was adequate for a Saturday . No delays . It is a nice easy course with a few challenges holes . It is my home course . A lot of golf for your money with 3 , 4 , and 5 par holes . No water holes

This course is well maintained and the staff is very friendly. I caught up to a twosome and joined them. One of the golfers is also an employee and he helped me with the yardage and course layout. Many elevated shots fit nicely in the course design. I will be back.

....because it was 40 years since the last time. To me everything was better. A fun layout without too much trouble. The greens were very good.

Played very early in the morning and made it around fairly quickly. Later in the day, I could tell the pace was slowing. Conditions are solid but the thick trees make the course tight in a number of places.

The course layout is very good, interesting and varied.

The greens were in great shape, a little slow but balls rolled true.

The fairways were thin in general. Most lies were not good.

With no range and only a putting green, there is no chance to warm up.

The play was slow. Even with two threesomes in front of us our foursome had to wait to hit on most holes.

The food at grill was just okay, but they did offer bags of ice with the beer for your round.

With improved maintenance, on fairways in particular, this could be a good course.

This course is well laid out over a rolling slightly hilly property. It has good fairway movement and green complexes that provide for strategic options. Several blind spots and elevations provide interest. Many fairways are tree lined but are fairly wide. The greens have nice slope and mounds and are usually protected on one side by bunkers. The conditioning is fair but not great. The course is very walkable. This is a nice option for a casual round.

Overbooked t times, greens aerated, no ball washers and yardage markers out, all greens had red flags regardless of pin placements. Even ran out of hot dog rolls. Nerve charging full price.

Played in the rain in January and had the game of my life. Lots of goose dodo and standing water on the greens and fairway this time of year. Bring your patience and A game!

The staff should never let parties of 2 to go out by themselves as these break the pace of the round for everyone !!!

Front 9 was quick than got slow on back need a Marshall to help move it along

Disgusting. Water rats all over the course. Tee boxes were here Muddy with no grass and full of broken tees.

No cart girl on the course. The bathrooms reeked of urine. The urinals were stained dark yellow brown and look to haven't been cleaned all year.

What a shame for such a nice property to not be managed appropriately

Never go back again unless they pay me.
