Overbooked
The course is in great shape but they overbooked. Figured a lot of people would be out yesterday but we didn't get out till over n hour after our scheduled tee time cause they didn't have enough golf carts. Not to mention how bad of shape the carts r actually in. People also don't like fixing their ball marks on the greens. That's not the courses fault though. Fix ball marks people. Just lazy not to
South Shore Golf carts
everything was great except the carts are horrible!
Much Better Than Years Ago
Years ago I considered this course a last resort but things have changed much for the better. Course was very green with great greens. We teed (3 of us) at 4:45 and still finished by 8:15 to return the cart. A little extra course signage would be nice however.
course in excellant condition
very enjoyable round excellent conditions.Greens very fast and perfect
Great shape
Green in excellent condition course is looking great after the tough winter
great conditions
the course was in excellent condition. played after heavy rains and had no problems
Playing golf with ease
The staff was great, didn't have to wait for anybody. Course was decent.
5 hour round
It took us (4) 5 hours to complete our round. :( the course was in great shape and fun to play just shouldn't take 5 hours to get thru
Very Slow
We had a 12:15 tee time and didnt not tee off until 1:00. We had to wait for golf carts, there are not enough at the course. Then a big backup and no rangers to move people along. One hole took 20 minutes between waiting to tee off and completing. The golf carts are some of the worst I have ever seen backfiring everywhere, sounded like a gun range. This might be a good course for a mid week round when its not crowded, I cant imagine the weekends.
golf carts
Golf carts are ready ready for the junk pile. Otherwise the course was in great shape.
Not enough golf carts
The two times I played this course this year were April 12 and May 3 and both times I had to wait almost an hour after my tee time to play due to a heavy shortage of golf carts. There were open holes for periods of time, while we waited, especially the first hole, which was open for a half hour with no one teeing off. And they had the nerve to come to us for the cart in the end. I didn't finish playing all 18 on the 3rd because of it. I asked others if they had cart availability issues with this course and they said they did, on other dates. Poor management, at the beginning and throughout, with no marshals to keep it moving.
Needs a change
Golf itself was good except this is the fourth time I've played there this year. On every occasion the cats brakes do not work. Also the 19 hole is the reauson lots of golfers hang out. For such a good location the 19th hole has no ambiance at all, although the bartender was great the rediculous prices for drinks just means golfers just golf and go. Probably why silver lake is such a success as they have decent prices for drinks and a ambiance.
Great neighborhood course
A neighborhood course which has a great layout friendly staff at check in course needs a lot of work players should repair ball marks but then again early in the season especially after a harsh winter.
poorly kept
I was amazed and disappointed to see the great amount of goose droppings as well as leaves on this course. That indicates to me that this course is neglected as far as upkeep this time of year. During the golf season this course is usually in great shape.
Overbooked
On staten island there are only 3 courses. 2 of them had outings on this day so everyone who wanted to play came to this course. The first tee was backed up with 6 foursomes waiting to tee off. It just doesn't seem right. Either you have organized tee times or not, it seemed that there was a lot of extra players. It wound up being a very long day. A 12:07 tee time became a 12:30 and couldn't even finish due to darkness at around 4:30. It seems to be an ongoing problem at this course, the play is always slow. I always see about 4 guys hanging out at the starters booth. Maybe a few of them should be out on the course to speed up play a little bit. I've played this course a few times this year and haven't seen any marshals on the course to speed up the play. One week I went through 5 carts due to no brakes, no reverse ,bad steering etc, I could go on and on......the course is in great shape but there are just too many problems that make for a very long and unenjoyable round of golf.
in good shape for Nov
Played November 10...I was shocked to see how well the course was in....Must hand it to the ground crew for the job...nice course for the average golfers
Great condition.
It was a great day, busy because of the holiday but played in less than 5 hours. Course is well managed and is challenging.
typical staten island course
once again, i gave this course a chance but i was let down like usual. cousre was nice for a fall day but pace of play is terrible. tee time of 2:20 and couldnt finish 18 holes due to the usual non golfer mentality of " its only them " on the course. played first four holes than had to swing around to play them again but still caught the foursome in front because of being inconsiderate. finished 9 regulation holes in 3 hours (played 13) and went to go off the fromt again not to be stuck behind bad golfers and was treated like trash by the "starter" wearing a NDA pullover. i was told if i wanted to play 18 holes i " shoulda came earlier". well since i shot -2 on the front my pace of play is sufficient to finish 18 holes in 2 hours but i can dral with 3 hours. after i was was talked down to and scolded by the guy whos just a tough guy " typical" , we swung back behind the foursome and continued to race the clock to bet sunset to no avale. we asked if someone could keep their pace of play up and was directed to call the club house. its mind boggling to me how no course on staten island has marshals that tell people you cant look for your ball for 15 mins and play ready golf. but as expected we miandered on into the darkness. 17 holes were play in regulation making it an unfinished 18 holrs in 4 1/2 hours. its also disgusting of how much these staten island "municipal courses" charge $50 USC , not pesos, to play a round of golf when it could be parralled to community service. thats the twilight fee too. $75 on weekend mornings!!! $50 during the week!!!! you can play rutgers in nj for $50 on a weekend and you have to keep the pace of play or they kick you off. its absurd how any course on staten island can charge more than $30 on their help yourself courses. GO TO JERSEY !!!!!!!
Nice course
Slow play no rangers out directing groups. 2 players took 5 hours
