South Shore Golf Course

Course is great. Needs some work. There is some working being done while we were on the course. Hopefully it will be a bit better next year.

For me, South Shore is super convenient, as I live very close to it. YTD I have played 6 rounds there, and have basically had the same complaint each time I have been there. I guess I can't get enough of a bad thing. Lol!! Most of the tee boxes are dirt with little or no grass. Most of the fairways are dead or rock hard. The greens have never been great, but they were not horrible either. I had hoped there would be some improvements, as I really do enjoy playing there, but the course continues to be in lousy shape. I could see if it was a bargain to play there, but it’s not! The cost of a round ranges from $46.50 - $61.50 (without a Golf Now discount), which is not cheap by any means. If the course was taken care of properly, I would have no issue paying it.

If you notice, there is zero representation on this website from the management at South Shore. You don’t see anyone commenting or thanking customers for their reviews. I actually emailed the manager at one point earlier this year, and politely advised my thoughts on the condition of the course. I received no reply. I guess if they chose to be absentee managers, we should be absentee players. Having less customers should speak volumes as to how that place is run. Someone there needs to wake up, as their overall 3-star rating is not a good thing.

To add insult to injury yesterday, we got stuck behind a foursome who took their sweet time playing, hitting multiple balls, barely moving their game along, spending more time talking than playing. My 2 person round took 5 hours (yes, 5 hours!), which is utterly ridiculous! Shouldn't there be rangers going around telling people to keep up with their pace? Maybe I am wrong, but I don't think I am.

Been playing Staten Island golf courses for 30 years but this was first time at south shore in ten. The tee boxes are as always non existent it’s always been a issue here but they were laying some sod down to make new boxes so that’s a plus. Pace of play is usual for Staten Island A disappointment was the fairways ,i always remember them being nice but maybe the weather this year there is not much grass on them. Greens are best part of the course there soft and the ball stops and still roll at pretty good speed. Staff always nice as they were years ago. So much potential a little money it could be great. Hopefully the tee boxes is a sign there gonna spend some money and time to get it to a solid course

3 stars because I enjoyed my round, but lost stars because the condition of the course was in bad shape.

Greens where very slow and in bad conditions.

Tee boxes were in really bad shape.

You couldn't distinguish the fairway from the rough.

10:44 tee time. Could not start because they overbooked until noon. Waste of time and money for a 6+ hour round. DO NOT EVEN BOTHER GOING HERE ON THE WEEKEND.

The fairways & greens were all in good condition especially with the heavy rain a few days before. The rough was thick

US open style. As always the pace of play was slow, afternoon tee time but you expect that.

Tees and greens were sub par. Pace of play was slow. People hitting from blue tees that should be hitting from the red.

Very slow pace of play, 3 group wait, greens aerated and slow, bunkers full of dirt

Tee boxes are not mowed. Bare spots and dirt patches throughout the course. $75 with a cart is a terrible value. The course might have been $40 at best.

A range, food cart, water jugs on holes would make a big difference. Otherwise, large fairways, played well after rain and soft greens

course was in very good shape , greens were good except for occasional divot by lazy golfers . pace was horrible , we had a 3 some and a 4 some , played through 12 holes some rain started we decided to leave . the group 2 ahead of us had 3 holes open ahead of them , did not see one course assistant out the entire round
