Boone Golf Club
About
Boone Golf Club is one of the area's most popular public courses. It was designed by Ellis Maples, the architect of many of the South's finest courses. Utilizing the dramatic Hill Country landscape, the course is as scenic as it is challenging. From the elevated tees you'll get a view of the surrounding mountains and the winding streams that meander through the golf course. The wide fairways are bordered by colorful wildflowers and the greens have subtle but tricky undulations. The par-5 sixth is one of the most memorable holes on the course. The green is the most challenging element of this hole, not only is it steeply pitched there is also water guarding the front. Boone Golf Club is a challenging but fair layout that golfers of all skill levels enjoy playing.

Great Mountain course
don't get to play much as I do not live in the area but course was in excellent condition, maybe a few tee boxes could have used a little TLC but fairways and greens were in great shape. Was a little concerned off the first tee when we saw a number of walkers ahead of us ( groups and singles) but pace of play was never an issue until the 17th hole. Will definitely be back to play
Beautiful course/layout!
Very well maintained! Beautiful layout and course. Challenging! Keep up the good work!
Easy & Relaxing
Boone Golf course is very easy to get to and a very relaxing course to play. I enjoyed my play there as well as the food in the cafe.
They overbook and it causes really slow play
First our disappointment....... Only got in 14 holes as the pace of play was incredibly slow. When we got to #6 on the front side (they put us off on #10 first) we caught the group in front of us and realized the problem. There was a group of 8 young men, all teeing off togetther and playing the hole as an eight some. Several of the players would hit their drive poorly, go out and pick their ball up then bring it back to the tee and proceeded to tee off a second time. I counted 12 tee shots including their mulligans before we could tee off. We could not believe our eyes........It was obvious that it would be dark before we could finish. So we packed it up and called it a day after 14 holes. As we drove to the club house we noticed a five some(ahead of the eight some) that were playing the hole in clear view of the pro shop. Rather disgusted I went into the pro shot to complain. I was told by the pro there were no eight somes on the course even though I had just witnessed all eight tee off together. I guess he thought I was blind. I pointed out the window to 5 players on the below green. Their excuse was the course was crowded today and the pace of play was slow. I asked why we never saw a range the whole day - again no answer. It is very unfortunate that those who run the course from the pro shop have an "I really don't give a darn" attitude when valid concerns are brought to their attention. I give the course superintendent an "A" as the course is in good shape. The pro a "F-" Come on you are better than that fellows. I hope the people these men work for see this review and explain proper and acceptable golf etiquette because it was not in evidence today.
Enjoyed round and your staff. For first timer, those creeks are sneaky.
Fun Course in the Mountains
BGC is a fun course to play during your stay in the Blue Ridge area! Compact layout and just the right amount of challenge for the 1/2/3x per week golfer. Very ladies-friendly too. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoy!
Outstanding public course with excellent greens. Beautiful views of mountains and trees all around . Challenging but fair golf course with some holes in the valley and others on the hillside. Highly recommend.
Course in good condition
Course in good condition-staff always friendly-was crowded but pace of play moved nicely
Best in the area, for the general public
Beautiful course and fun to play. Summer fees are pretty high so I only play when I can get a hot deal on Golf Now. Busy yesterday but still played in less than four hours. Take a drink. No drink cart and restaurant isn't open early. Walking gives you an extra workout. Flatlanders like me will find the greens very tricky to read.
Walk a Mountain Course? Yes, indeed.
Great layout in a wonderful setting. Couple of blind shots, but many beautiful shots onto and into some very tricky surfaces. Greens quick and undulating. Pay attention to the mountain. Fun, great staff, good food, and you can walk it. Play it.
A beautiful course in the Highlands
Boone is a must go play place. We come to Boone each July and it is always our first choice. It is a public golf course with a private course feel. Not excessively hilly as many courses are in this area. Play it and I can almost promise yo it will become a favorite.
One of the Best
Boone Golf Club is one of my favorites. I wish I lived closer so that I could play it more than once a year. Its a great layout that will challenge you but not so bad it makes you miserable. The course is in a valley so its really very flat except for holes 10-12. There is usually plenty of room to hit you ball and get away with a bad shot. The defense of the course is the greens which are generally big, have a large amount of break, and roll really smooth and pretty fast. Missing the green makes for a tough up and down in some spots. (I managed to find most of those it seemed) The pace of play is going to be slow-but not terrible on the weekend-our round on a Saturday afternoon was 4.5 hours. There were no cart girls or rangers riding around. But the snack bar/restaurant is nice. I love the course and wish I could play it more.
Great course
While in the mountains this is not a mountain style course. It sits in a valley and has some mild elevation change holes but is relatively flat. That said the layout is fantastic and conditions are great. A must play if you are in the area.
