Boone Golf Club
About
Boone Golf Club is one of the area's most popular public courses. It was designed by Ellis Maples, the architect of many of the South's finest courses. Utilizing the dramatic Hill Country landscape, the course is as scenic as it is challenging. From the elevated tees you'll get a view of the surrounding mountains and the winding streams that meander through the golf course. The wide fairways are bordered by colorful wildflowers and the greens have subtle but tricky undulations. The par-5 sixth is one of the most memorable holes on the course. The green is the most challenging element of this hole, not only is it steeply pitched there is also water guarding the front. Boone Golf Club is a challenging but fair layout that golfers of all skill levels enjoy playing.

Log jam at the turn
We had an early tee time on a Friday morning and were paired with a couple of other golfers. The pace of play and conditions on the front nine were great. We made the turn almost exactly 2 hours into our round only to find they had started SEVERAL groups on 10 and we waited almost 30 minutes to start the back nine! Our rythm was ruined. We waited to hit every shot on the back nine. We completed our round 3 hours after finishing the ninth hole. This is a great course. I love playing there when I am in town, but I was very disappointed to have the round soured by poor management of the tee sheet.
Beautiful course
The course is very scenic and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The course was in great shape with interesting layout of the holes and pin placements. Putting was difficult until you got used to the speed and break.
Beware of groups starting on the back
I had an early morning tee time and the staff was real friendly, not sure why others are complaining about rude treatment. This was my first time playing Boone GC and I was really impressed with the condition of the course.
I work at a top rated private CC and the greens here remind me of where I work and play.
The greens were pretty fast and my putts rolled true and held their line. Fairways are nicely managed but a lot of people don't replace their divots or fill them with sand. It's the pits when you hit a perfect tee shot only to end up in a divot as I found out a few times. Please do your fellow golfers the courtesy of filling your divot!
There are lots of scoring opportunities if you make a good approach shot. Number 10 is an easy to reach par 5 with eagle possibilities (of course I made mine!).
My only issue is that management allowed people to start on the back 9 while we played the front. I made an early tee time so I could finish early and beat the crowd. We played the front in 1 hour 30 minutes but the back took 2 hours and 45 minutes due to slow play. I know the whole round took 4 hours and 15 minutes which isn't too bad but that's not the point... I drove 2 hours each way to play this course because I heard so many good things about it. Don't know if I will return if this is the way Boone GC operates.
Solid Layout
Well maintained course, nice pro shop, and great layout.
Very friendly staff
Great time always at the Boone Golf Club. Super helpful and friendly female staff in the shop today. Starter Jacob was super nice and got us out and on our way:) I have used golf now to play Boone Golf Club since it came out and never have I felt disrespected or that the customer service looked down upon my choice to book via Golfnow. Love this place and plan to grow old here:)
Great course! Not so friendly staff!
Boone is always in great condition, and a fun course to play. Best public course in the area. BUT a WARNING to ALL GolfNow users, they do not like these bookings, and make that very clear when you check in. I was treated poorly from start to finish. The starter rolled his eyes at me, the guy at the desk inside asked if I was GolfNow, and sighed. I have played this course for 4 years now, and have noticed the customer service slowly worsening each year. I love saving money on GolfNow, but I don’t want to be treated like I am less than everyone else when I arrive.
Spring golf
Very nice course. They had just removed the bunker covers this week and the bunkers were in good shape. Greens seemed a little slow. Would definitely play it again.
a fine day at boone!
A lovely course, perfect now with the rhododendrens in full bloom. The starter seemed to be a bit confused, so we ended up as a foursome with 4 carts. Nice folks, pretty good golf.
Best in the Area
Best public course in the area. Amazing condition!!
Boone is a great find.
We did encounter some rain, but this is great course with tremendous views.
Nice one
Golf course is surrounded by mountains but not much up and downs. I disappointed putting green of the speed but greens were rolling very well. Well maintained fairways. It was packed even though Wednesday afternoon. Staff and gplfers are very friendly
Great Course For All Levels
Really enjoyed my time at Boone Golf Club. It is relatively flat considering its mountain location. A good mix of score-able holes and ones that require creative shot making. The only down side was the temporary green on number 6 which is the only Par 5 on the front side. This hole sits in a very shaded area so was cart path only due to being very wet and the green was roped off with the temporary green cut in the middle of the fairway roughly 120 short of the actual green. Being that it is not the longest par 5 to begin with, you have to score this modified hole as a par 4. Once you reach the temporary green, you are still putting on a fairway. Though they have cut it closer, it’s still rather bumpy but makes it kinda fun in my opinion!
All in all, I truly enjoyed my loop in Boone. Played as a single with a cart in 3 hours with hitting multiple shots from the same spot to work on different shot types. It’s still early in the season up in the mountains so I gotta get that work in when I can and since there was no one trailing me and a walking twosome in front, it was a perfect opportunity for me to get better!
