Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club

About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

November
Very good conditions considering it is November and we are in a drought. Leaves were minimal, greens in good shape after aeration.
Nice setting in the country
Good course that has some challenges but won't beat you up. If you want a real challenge, play from the tips.
Decent course to many dog legs
Course was nice I have played the ambassador side prior. Definitely think ambassador is nicer than presidential. Not alot of opportunity to take driver on presidential not a huge fan. Overall course was nice had alot of fun playing
A little bit of everything on this course… always a fun round
Wet Fairways
We played this course before and the greens were very soggy and wet. We decided to give it another chance since it hasn’t rain in weeks and the course was wet again. It’s not a bad course if you don’t mind playing on wet fairway. It’s just not for me.
Tough Test
Choose the correct tees. Course is beautiful. greens are excellent.
Great Course on a great day
Weather was wonderful and the usual geese were gone. The tee grounds had been aerated but were very playable. Otherwise greens were fast and in great shape. I noticed a few areas had crab grass but I never had to play out of it. The bunkers were raked and were playable. Something to be commented about as bunkers are not maintained by many courses in this area. We will play here again in the near future.
Overall a challenging course
Overall a challenging course, however on weekends be prepared to be there for a while. I generally enjoy playing this course a few times a month, but lately it feels like rangers sending people out early messes up with the tee times and ends in a traffic jam. My last round took almost 5 hours for a course that you can easily play in half that time with no one in front.
Twice in One Week
I played this course on both Tuesday and Friday of this week because the conditions were so good on Tuesday I decided to play it again right away. I was not disappointed.
The putting greens are exceptional and the rest of the course was in very very good shape as it was recently cut the day before; even the sand traps were well groomed. And unlike so many golf courses in the area, the Ambassador course actually has quality sand in the traps.
Not recommended if you book it via hothead and join with someone
I booked it via hotdeal in golf now. We were 3 players. One person joined at our tee time. A staff at check in gsve us a cart for two and asked me to share another cart with someone joined at our time. I have never shared a cart with a person I had met before. I asked the staff to give two carts since we are 3 people and booked it separately from the person. But he rejected it. I,m not sure it this is a normal when we play a golf.
Anthow I won't go here anymore.
