Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Twice in One Week
I played this course on both Tuesday and Friday of this week because the conditions were so good on Tuesday I decided to play it again right away. I was not disappointed.
The putting greens are exceptional and the rest of the course was in very very good shape as it was recently cut the day before; even the sand traps were well groomed. And unlike so many golf courses in the area, the Ambassador course actually has quality sand in the traps.
Not recommended if you book it via hothead and join with someone
I booked it via hotdeal in golf now. We were 3 players. One person joined at our tee time. A staff at check in gsve us a cart for two and asked me to share another cart with someone joined at our time. I have never shared a cart with a person I had met before. I asked the staff to give two carts since we are 3 people and booked it separately from the person. But he rejected it. I,m not sure it this is a normal when we play a golf.
Anthow I won't go here anymore.
Greens were in rough shape, too many ball marks not being attended to.
Great pace
We played the presidential course , I was helping my daughter in her game , luckily for us we had no one in front or behind us the whole round , obviously we weren’t keeping score so we could pick up at anytime throughout the game , but it was just perfect including the weather..
Worst Golf Experience in Years.
I’m not usually someone to write a bad review, but this was one of the worst of golf recent experiences I have been a part of. Course was not in playable condition- I understand there has been a lot of rain. But fairways, fringe, were overgrown and soaked to the point the course should’ve been closed. Pins were in strange spots considering conditions. We didn’t see the cart girl until hole 15. We teed off earlier then our tee time, told to go ahead, and right away had a threesome breathing down our neck all day- which wasn’t necessary since their tee time was scheduled for 20 minutes after us, not tee off right when went to our second shots. I got mistaken for someone else by a ranger who said I drove off the cart path during cart path only. (Which I didn’t) Told me if it happened again we’d be gone. Overall not a great experience for a course I’ve heard so much good about. Not sure I’d give it a second chance.
Great value
I got my tee time on golf now. I would definitely go back
Great conditions
The course was in great shape. Challenging but not impossible.
Condition, condition, condition
Say what you want about the layout and amenities but this course is in the best condition I’ve seen during this heat and drought. Greens impeccable and even the fairways are green.
Ridiculous waits
Front nine pace was great. Back nine ran into an ignorant wall. Two foursomes in front off kept hitting 2 to 3 shots each, hunted balls every hole for up to 10 minutes just to make us wait. No marshaling of play so we just quit after teeing of 12 and will never return.
