Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Golfer Reviews
Great conditions
The course was in great shape. Challenging but not impossible.
Condition, condition, condition
Say what you want about the layout and amenities but this course is in the best condition I’ve seen during this heat and drought. Greens impeccable and even the fairways are green.
Ridiculous waits
Front nine pace was great. Back nine ran into an ignorant wall. Two foursomes in front off kept hitting 2 to 3 shots each, hunted balls every hole for up to 10 minutes just to make us wait. No marshaling of play so we just quit after teeing of 12 and will never return.
Mehh
Greens not bad, fairways not bad. . Have to know the course to play it. Had pins in really stupid positions almost like mini golf. Asians everywhere and I knew we were in for a long day when they were arguing with man at counter about a coupon they printed out and that poor guy had to have his till short because of them. we almost got hit 3 times with balls (firing gallery) and never heard any fores from anyone. Staff pleasant but vowed on course to never play again there.
Great course with some stipulations
Great course, great layout, have played it multiple times. If you play the Presidential course, be aware that you don’t go back to the club house until the end of the round. They have a halfway house after 10 but it’s never open to get snacks or drinks. I’ve never seen it open, even after playing the course 5 times, so if you’re prepared for that, it’s a great course, and is kept in good condition. Clubhouse snacks and drinks are solid. Driving range is irons only, no woods.
