Nice course and layout
It was my first time playing there and I played from the white tees. Didn't hit too many drivers because all of the types of holes. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were in nice condition.
Panoramic views.
Great course. Memorable holes. Wet conditions and still enjoyable
Unexpected pleasure
Had been many years since played here prior with not many good memories. Was pleasantly suprised with course conditions. Greens were excellent, fast and true without typical bumps common in early northeast weather. Well maintained.
Perfect Day
Weather was perfect & course was in excellent condition. Mid-week play at noon; course was wide open. Open layout with few traps led to a very enjoyable day.
Nice Course
Played 18 holes in 3 hrs as a single from senior tees. Very windy (20-30 mph). Cart path only due to recent rain. Although, except for a couple par 4's with standing water in low lying parts of fairways, it was not that wet.
Staff was very friendly. A couple twosomes readily offered to let me play through. This is a good course for seniors as they have a considerable advantage off the tee. Fairways are pretty wide. Local knowledge helps as there are some blind tee shots. Although the fairways were a little shaggy, they were not bad for this time of year given all the rain. Greens were in good shape. Par 3's, with the exception of no. 9 are short and give you a great chance for a par. Really nothing bad to say about this course. I found it fun to play and I'll definitely come back when the weather is warmer and course is dryer.
Fun course
This course is a great deal. The fairways and greens were in great condition. The only issue I had is that with so many blind shots it was hard to tell when the group in front of me was clear.
Save Your Money
5 1/2 hour round. No ranger in sight. Too many blind tee shots. The guy in the pro shop was very rude. Tee times start at 6 am and sunrise wasn’t until 6:55, thus backing up the entire course. The greens were the only favorable part of the course. My group will NEVER go back!!!
Nice basic course
Macoby run was in good shape had a few bald spots but in all it was a nice course. Not to tough but will test you on some holes. Layout was good. I felt like the tees could be further back instead of being close to the front of there box on almost every hole. I would recommend this course if you never played there before.
Solid players course - nice bar and restaurant
Played this on a Sunday afternoon/evening and pace was great because it wasn't busy. 3:10 for me. Course was in great shape, but all are with the frequent spring rain we've had.
They started cutting some trees down in one area that could use it. everything was in good shape.
I still find hole 3 really weird, odd, and an afterthought. I think some of the tee boxes could use some attention, as in new placement to make the holes play different. something other than just 10 yards straight back. Having two nearly identical Par 3 downhill holes seems redundantly boring. other than those 3 holes, it plays pretty well.
Staff and amenities are really good. no real complaints, and it's a decent enough course.
Macoby to return
First time playing Macoby Run, and it was above expectation from parking lot.
I was not looking for a fancy club house or 19th hole, so this course worked for me.
Course was interesting and will play again. Compare to other courses those are dry these days, Macoby was in good condition. Tee boxes are not in good shape but greens were good.
p.s. This course is not good to walk.
Enjoy this course !
I don't play Macoby Run all that often, but when I return it's always a positive experience. Friendly staff, and very reasonable rates. Played 7-1-16 and while the fairways were very dry due to the lack of rain, the greens were in excellent shape.
The honored Veterans - course in good shape
I play here occasionally as it's close to my home, but has a lot of tournaments and clubs making getting on a little challenge or I'd play it more often. I was very pleasantly surprised when they asked if I was a veteran, and then told the cost was only $10 for the car. Free greens fees for veterans that week. It was nice to know they asked me (I'm a veteran with 12 years.)
The course was in pretty good shape, no major problems. Since it was November I was able to play alone, and although the course was peppered with groups, I played thru when able and made great time.
I like their restaurant for food, but wished they had a practice area without the mats (personal peeve of mine).
Greens were in good shape, and those that were in problem areas, like some tee boxes, they were trying to keep healthy. In other words they weren't ingoring the shaded or damp areas and it showed.
Some of the short par 3's seem similar, tee box 50 yards above the green. There are elevation changes on the first 12 holes, then widens out and flattens.
Not a bad course to play. And rates are fair even when not getting the veteran rate.
Macoby
This is a family owned and operated course built on converted farmland. I have played here on multiple occasions as a single and with groups and I very much enjoy it. Nothing too memorable, but the course is kept in good conditions except for a green or two that don't see a lot of sun so the grass is a little patchy.
Has some decent elevation changes on 4-5 holes. Pretty open layout, very little in the way of sand traps and water hazards. Even after some pretty heavy rains the course was in good shape.
Great Value Course
The greens and fairways are always in great shape. Greens are not too slow and not too fast. The course is extremely fun to play due to the drastic changes in elevation. The only hole that is questionable is the very short par 3 15th hole; an awkward hole all around. Staff is friendly and prices are reasonable. I have never had an issue with pace of play here. Definitely worth checking out!
