Unorthodox layout
The staff here were rude, maybe I walked in the pro shop at a bad time or maybe they just don't like Asians, either way, not one hello and there were 3 people in that tiny room. Anyway the course layout is pretty horrible, a lot of dog leg left/right and too many short par 4's, doesn't feel like you're playing a good course, more like a second rate course. save money play elsewhere
Not Bad
Aside from the pro shop opening late (5 minutes AFTER my round was to begin) and the greens not being rolled (like rivers from recent rain), the conditions would not keep me from playing here again soon. Can't speak to pace of play as we were first tee time on a Sunday.
Thanks for playing and your feedback. April & May rains prevented normal maintenance from being done on several occasions this year. Our greens are mowed every day under normal conditions. Our apologies if the Pro Shop opened late, that is something that should never happen.
Great start for this year
Enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon. Course is in great shape and the greens were very consistent. Would definitely play here again.
Had lunch before playing and the food was excellent.
First Time @ Mainland
I played poorly but I still didn't dislike this course. The track is somewhat short but doesn't really feel that way with the layout and green undulations.
The tees, fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. This early in the season it's always a gamble regarding the condition of the local courses but Mainland seems to do a good job keeping the track playable... except for the sand traps. I read a review before playing this course that mentioned rocks in the sand traps. I can confirm that there are indeed rocks (or maybe just small stones) in the sand traps and they were not in good shape. Hardpack and small stone made it nearly impossible to get out cleanly.
The staff, especially the starter, was very friendly. The starter let me and my buddy go off as a twosome even though there was a twosome starting just ahead of us. I think he picked up on the differences in our groups and figured we'd play better separately. And since it was a weekday in the early season, we probably wouldn't slow anybody down.
We didn't sample the off course amenities so I can't comment on those features.
I I hope to play this course again later this year and see if my game and the traps are in better shape.
p.s. - Be careful on the par 5 second hole. It's a dogleg right up a hill, then down to the flag. It can be reached in 2 by long hitters but you really need to see the green before your 2nd/3rd (approach) shot. It's a scary green that falls off in back and has a bunker protecting the right front. Good luck!
Good value , forgiving course
Enjoyable course, well maintained.
Soccer golf really?
Ace if play ridiculously slow. No ranger to push the hackers along! But worse thing were all the two foot wide soccer ball cups all over the course and the ridiculous flags!!!! Bush!!!! Wundmills next time?
first time playing
I took advantage of a hot deal off golfnow. This created a great value for 18 holes of golf with a cart. 14 bucks for a Friday in October. I played the white tees which made the course a bit short for me. The blue tees didn't look too much further back from the white, but I should of played the backs. The course does have some challenges, bunkers being the most prominent. The starter in the club house told me to stay out of those and he wasn't kidding. Sand was soft but very thin as far as how much was in the bunker. The greens were in good shape and would putt true. Some of the undulations and pin positions made for a challenging read and downhill puts were fast. I had my ball out of position a few times due to my first time being on the course. Overall it was a good experience and I will definitely be back if I can score another deal and due to its convenient location for me. I'm a 7 handicap and will be back to try and score a bit better the next time.
soccer
we previously enjoyed this course but will never go back and that sucks because they have the most attractive cart girl on any course word wide plus she is very friendly and works all morning early unlike most But our main issue was the course was only worried about soccer golf dug giant holes in fairway in front of the greens and were driving right in front of us on our approach shots to install flags (the staff)
Enjoyable Round
Have been playing this course all spring and summer. I find the course in very good shape, even with the numerous heat waves we have been having all summer. The weekday special before 7am is a great value, Only $28. I have played several rounds under 3 hours at this time of day. You can't go wrong with this course. It is not very long, but does have several greens that are a challenge. Give it a try!
Great course
Always in great condition and the staff is always friendly
Slow pace
Slow pace of play and not much done about it. Rangers do what they do... Wave as they go by! Kick some butt and get on the slow groups!
Tim
Not sure what day you played....weekends we anticipate 4.5 hours for 18 holes. We have 1-2 rangers on duty, have pace of play reminder clocks on the course and pace times in the scorecard. Rangers have the hardest job in golf, groups that are slow complain about being hassled, so it's a fine line that makes it difficult to please everyone. Thanks for the feedback.
Mainlands Is A Fun Course In Very Good Condition
We arrived early for our 9:45 am tee time, and we were sent out right away. Easy, simple and friendly check in. The course was in very good condition. Several holes are quite close to each other so on a busy day I could see a lot of cross fairway traffic. The day we played was not super busy and the pace of play was good. There seemed to be lots of work being performed on the bunkers which for the most part did not have too much sand but were consistent at least. The greens are very well maintained and the course was a fun play. There is a nice bar/restaurant at this course and the food was excellent!
Thanks for the feedback...hope you return soon!
Nice looking course, but terrible tee-offs and and beat up Greens
Basically what my title says. I think I value a course if it's tee-boxes are smoothly flat and if the greens are in good shape. Both were pretty below average, although I did enjoy the character, or look of the course.
Greens need work
Course was in OK shape. The greens need attention, particularly the repair of ball marks. Likewise the tee areas. The fairways and rough were in pretty good shape.
Tight Squeeze
Mainland presented itself as a local favorite among friends of mine. Reading reviews on this course online had me excited... I was not impressed. As an avid golfer who has played so many great courses in the area, I would rank this track on the lower side. Tee boxes were not level, nor did they have grass in the areas in which the tees were placed. There were a couple of instances where unkept trees were shooting out into your tee line. I know that some courses offer challenging tee areas, IE August National #18, but there were two occasions where the window to shoot through was about a 10 yard gap. This did not seem normal to me. Fairways were as narrow as you could imagine and tee boxes and neighboring greens were nearly right on top of each other. They certainly squeezed this guy in a very small area. Wear a hard hat. The best part about this place was the rough. Greens were choppy and bouncy. Bottom line, for an amateur type golf complex, it doesn't offer up much fun. Even a low handicapper couldn't hit these narrow fairways.
Always a good round
I've played this course many times. It is challenging and fun and always in very good condition.
Mainland the Magnificent!
When my son suggested playing golf near Harleysville where his friend had recently become the Butcher & Barkeep, a Google search suggested the Mainland Golf Course as a viable alternative. After reading the reviews, I was excited that the course might be the perfect venue to test my game. As I'm not a long hitter, I like courses that are on the shorter side but also provide challenge with tighter fairways, terrain changes, undulating greens, well groomed traps and the occasional water hazard. Mainland delivered as promised in every category! We paired up with a couple of local retired guys who were familiar with the course, whose local knowledge proved invaluable on a few occasions where blind shots were required. All of the staff, from the pro shop to the grounds crew were extremely cordial. The course was well manicured and maintained overall, from tee to green. The pace of play was excellent as we were never held up once. Upon finishing our round in just over 4 hrs, I concluded that if this course were nearer my home, I'd definitely become a member, concluding this to be, for me, Mainland the Magnificent!
thx for the feedback, hope to keep you as a returning customer
Great Value Course
Just getting back into golf this past year after a several year layoff. I have played this course several times this year. This course has some challenges, but for an average golfer, they can enjoy this course knowing that they can shoot a decent round. I always go before 7am because they have a great deal......18 holes with cart for only $28.00. Today I played 18 holes in 3 hours. The course is in very nice shape. Greens are like carpet. This was a great day.
Tight course
Course was in great shape, very narrow fairways and fast greens. Enjoyed the challenge ! Played saturday and sunday busy both days !
thx for playing, hope you come back again

What do you like? Holes that are straight as an arrow - boring. Doglegs? There are really only 4 holes that one can call a real dogleg. What do you want?
Oh, they might not like the speed with which many Asians play. Not all, but many.
