Short... Slow.. Won't Return for Golf
Was told by numerous people this was a great course in the area. Came out to the course as a single and joined a group. Started at 3pm, threesome. Course is incredibly short which you can see from the card. Fairways were in good shape, greens were incredibly slow. Pace of play was 5.5 hours.... We ran out of daylight on the course. Best thing about this course is the restaurant, CaddyShack and the friends I met at the bar. Shot a 34, so this review does not come from playing poorly. I would not recommend to any serious golfer, and will not be returning. If you are visiting and want a good place to place, I would head to Royal Manchester, Iron valley or Daulphin Highlands. Cheers
Strategic layout, a thinkers course
You can't bomb your way around here. Sometimes it might be better to leave the driver in the bag. A fairly 'tight' course, but there is room to work the ball. Each hole tells you how it needs to be played. Sometimes, that might be a draw off the tee, other times, a nice cut will put you in the best position to go at the well-guarded greens. A good mix of left-to-right and right-to-left holes, many with subtle elevation changes. This is definitely a course that rewards restraint, and local knowledge. You'll play better here on your second and third rounds than you do the first time out. Excellent course conditions, especially considering how much play this course gets. The greens are especially well-maintained, with a medium-fast speed and very true roll. A great value, too, especially on GolfNow Hot Deal rates.

Course is nice! Holes average approximately 325 yds.
Nice place to play
Great conditions. Bunkers all redone and nice. Bar and grill very nice too.
SLOW
Myself and my partner were paired up on a Wednesday afternoon with another pair to "make the round seem faster". There was a foursome ahead of us consisting of a course employee who the ranger passed multiple times and didn't ask to speed up play of let our group play through. The round lasted almost 5 hours on one of the shortest courses in the area. There wasn't another group ahead of this foursome for about 4 or 5 holes by the end of the round. Poor on-course management yesterday. The course itself was in good shape and typically Armitage is a fun course to play. The restaurant/bar (Caddie Shack) is always a good time too.
Great Central Penn Course
Some rough was blown over but overall in great shape compared the other local courses. Well worth the money!! No bare spots and greens firm but fast!
Good value on golf now
Good course, clubhouse facilities dated and tired. Salad at caddy shack restaurant fair ..you can probably find a better place to eat. Greens were airrated and did not role true, they were hard , not good at holding a ball. Speed was inconsistent.
I had a nice day and for 12 bucks wasnt expecting a perfect condition. It is just spring so maybe the greens will improve. Fairways were good some tee boxes not good. One was so narrow all i could getwas an up hill lie.
Nice course
I have been playing this course since the mid 90's and it has continued to get better each year. With trees being removed, additional cart paths being added, with having the bunkers being renovated the course has gone through marked improvements over the years. The fairways are tight and tree lined, if you don't drive the ball at least fairly straight, you could be in for a long day. The course is on the short side compared to most, is only approx. 6000 yards from the back/blue tees. The greens overall are on the smallish side, but are fair and usually roll fine. The course is rarely in anything but very good condition, it can be challenging on a few tee boxes to find a level stance. The practice area is adequate, you can use the putting green or the mini driving range, but cannot hit woods on the range due to it's size. Overall, the staff is courteous and professional and it's always fun to have an after round beverage and food at the Caddy Shack Restaurant.

Great deal on golf now. Not crowded at all yesterday. Been there many other times and have played that 5 hour round there. Course is in great shape
Excruciatingly Slow Play
OK, It was Father's Day, and that may have been a factor. But play was really, really slow from five to eighteen. PAINFULLY slow.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The starter paired my wife and I with a father and daughter. My wife really appreciated that.
The tees and fairways are shopworn, but play wasn't affected. Greens are outstanding! Putts run true, and approach shots easily stay on the putting surface.
Outstanding practice green and driving range for short irons.
Helf up five times
For some reason, about every third hole we had to wait for two groups at a tee box. It didn't flow until the 17th hole.
Classic
Every time I play this course it is in Excellent Condition. Very fair to the senior player. Staff always very friendly. I would recommend this course to all players.
Mr Simon
The green is not that great, we play through the first 9 holes is not too bad but when we hit holes #12 and beyond we just sitting at the Tee box for at least 10 minutes before we can tee off.
This course is in great shape!!!!
Despite things being a bit slow due to raining a lot lately, this is in great shape. The greens are in prime condition and it drains well and quickly. Loved the variation from hole to hole and how it has matured!
It is a challenging and very fair test! It is very well managed and cared for and it does not attract too many hacks and duffers that play slow or rudely. I wish it was closer to Hershey area.
Nice Course
I have been golfing at this course for 17 years. One thing doesn't change, and that's how well maintained all 18 holes are. Short course, but can be challenging with the slopes of the fairways. Enjoy!
Well maintained
Forecasters had it raining. It was an awesome day and for $15 w/cart couldn't beat it. It would be nice if there was a beverage cart. Course has everything else. Greenso werejust aeraTed but to be expected this early in season.
