Good value for the area
Course never disappoints. Fairways and greens are always in great condition. Rough is cut down making the course friendly for most all handicaps. Fair mix of long and short holes. Tees could use a little work but it’s early in the season. A little disappointed they didn’t have the back tees out for play. Will definitely be back as it is a good value for the area and course conditions.
Stay away
The course must of had hard rain overnight so cart path only. Course was busy so it was a 5 1/2 hour round. Murder pace. Almost quit at the turn. Ball plugged so everyone was having trouble finding their ball, even in the fairway. Greens were punched and many of the tee boxes were terrible shape. Would not come back again this year.
Great pace of play
The course was super busy. We got our round in just under four hours. The course is very challenging but every golfer there moved along at a good pace.
Great Western PA Course
Originally from the area and back on a visit. Played with a friend from Texas. Lush fairways and greens. Very nice layout with great approach views of the clubhouse. Staff very friendly. Pace of play for a Saturday morning was good. This is a country club level course open to the public. Take advantage to try it out.
Slow
Course condition and layout are good, good greens and fairways but the pace of play is so slow. Beginner golfers should not be on this course.
Over priced
I am from this area and Quicksilver has been the “Best” course in the area for a long time. I played it today and I will not be back until they do major upgrades. First the tee boxes were slanted, and on par 3 they were horrible. There was no such thing as “rough”. The greens were way to hard and not even fun to play (mostly unfair). The fairways were super dried out. Overall, save your money and go to another course. Waste of $70.
Nice conditions but no water to drink
It was a really hot day and after nine we badly needed water to drink. They don’t have any water on course. They need to tell you this before you tee off.
excellent well manicured course
enjoyed the top condition and fairly long golf course. one of the better and challenging golf around in western Pa.
good course
Very good shape for spring, greens were still a little bumpy from earlier aeration but still very fast, couple traps were hard sand but most were soft sand , nice course but has some long par 4 that average players can't reach in 2 , but overall good course.
Early year round.
This was the first real warm day of the year. Course was in decent shape for so early.
Always a challenging layout.
Winds were blowing 20-35mph gusts so it was a bit hard to enjoy the round.
Will look forward to going back.
Great golf course
Very poor course management, slow pace, wait on every shot
Hidden gem of Pa
Always one of my favorite courses to play. It makes you use every club in your bag, instead of a drive chip and putt. The layout is excellent, aesthetically pleasing, but at the same time delivers a stout test of ball striking and short game. Especially if you can get out in the off-season on a nice day, the course is an excellent choice for the winter rate- 30-50 for 18 at a tour quality course is incredible. Would recommend to anyone with time to kill
Country Club Conditions and Price
I play have played this course a couple times annually for the last 20 years. The track is more open than tight with most of the challenge derived from a plethora of fairway and/or green-side bunkers and very fast-sloped putting surfaces. The condition of the course is almost always top notch. The downsides are that QS is usually a 4.5 - 5 hour weekend round, and the price is among the costliest public courses in the Pittsburgh metro. Also, the recent removal of the blue tees (reportedly to speed play) pushed my 5-12 handicap group to the white tees and in the process eliminated the need for most long iron play. Note to staff... Please let the paying participant decide which tee box is best suited for their game - the abundance of bunkers and arduous 3-putt greens have more to do with slow play than the length of the course. I will probably continue to return once a year, but in my opinion there are several equal or finer higher-end golf experiences elsewhere within a 50 mile radius that are a better value.
Carts were at a premium... course regulars knew to wait in parking lot and grab a cart to take up to check in.... two groups ahead did this and were after our tee time by 20 - 30 mins... staff was questioned and was "now you know"....
