Church pew sand trap Photo submitted by Butch88288 on 07/11/2017
excellent well manicured course
enjoyed the top condition and fairly long golf course. one of the better and challenging golf around in western Pa.
good course
Very good shape for spring, greens were still a little bumpy from earlier aeration but still very fast, couple traps were hard sand but most were soft sand , nice course but has some long par 4 that average players can't reach in 2 , but overall good course.
Early year round.
This was the first real warm day of the year. Course was in decent shape for so early.
Always a challenging layout.
Winds were blowing 20-35mph gusts so it was a bit hard to enjoy the round.
Will look forward to going back.
Great golf course
Very poor course management, slow pace, wait on every shot
Hidden gem of Pa
Always one of my favorite courses to play. It makes you use every club in your bag, instead of a drive chip and putt. The layout is excellent, aesthetically pleasing, but at the same time delivers a stout test of ball striking and short game. Especially if you can get out in the off-season on a nice day, the course is an excellent choice for the winter rate- 30-50 for 18 at a tour quality course is incredible. Would recommend to anyone with time to kill
Country Club Conditions and Price
I play have played this course a couple times annually for the last 20 years. The track is more open than tight with most of the challenge derived from a plethora of fairway and/or green-side bunkers and very fast-sloped putting surfaces. The condition of the course is almost always top notch. The downsides are that QS is usually a 4.5 - 5 hour weekend round, and the price is among the costliest public courses in the Pittsburgh metro. Also, the recent removal of the blue tees (reportedly to speed play) pushed my 5-12 handicap group to the white tees and in the process eliminated the need for most long iron play. Note to staff... Please let the paying participant decide which tee box is best suited for their game - the abundance of bunkers and arduous 3-putt greens have more to do with slow play than the length of the course. I will probably continue to return once a year, but in my opinion there are several equal or finer higher-end golf experiences elsewhere within a 50 mile radius that are a better value.
Carts were at a premium... course regulars knew to wait in parking lot and grab a cart to take up to check in.... two groups ahead did this and were after our tee time by 20 - 30 mins... staff was questioned and was "now you know"....
Still a Monster
Still the best daily fee course in the area.
Played on a Wednesday after the course received over an inch of rain the previous day. Playing cart path only turns a tough course almost impossible. Lots of standing water on the course making some holes very dicey and the risk of plugging a shot very real. Would have been better walking the course.
Pace of play was horrid. 5 hours to play 18 on a weekday is simply not acceptable under any circumstances.
Bring out your best game
You get a little bit of everything on this course. Great for a golf outing. Sand on almost every hole. Greens are always nice.
Great golf course
Had a great time at Quicksilver, great condition, love the greens, what an great golf course!
Excellent Test
This course has a nice diverse layout. There are plenty of unique holes with different challenges. It is a good test of your game, even from the "white" tees at about 6500 yards. There is nothing unfair about the course and will reward good shots. The course was in really good condition, including perfect bunkers. By far the best part of this course are the lightning fast and true greens.
Must play
What a great course. The variety of tee boxes really offer fantastic options for each group. The fairways and bunkers were in perfect shape. But the gold star goes to the fast and true greens. Great job!
Great course.
Probably the best challenging public golf courses within the Pittsburgh area. 6500 yards white and 7100 black with challenging greens that will test your nerves and putting skills.
Course conditions
Fairways and greens were in top condition. No flaws or bare spots anywhere on the course. The greens were fast and true. The rough was cut at just the right height so you can find your ball and keep pace of play moving along. No houses lining the fairways, just green and scenic beauty all around.
Tough course in good condition
Quicksilver is some what deceptive in toughness. Fairways are wide and generally open to adjoining fairways. However there are a lot of traps, the greens are fast and I found them tough to read, and the pin placements were really tough. You have to earn every yard you shoot as almost all greens are uphill for approach shots. Course was in great condition. Fast play-3.5 hours.
Enjoyed course immensely
very challenging for all types of golfers. High handicappers may find this layout long.
