Excellent course
I herd about this course from few friends. And finally I had a chance to play here. Felt so great about this course. Very good cold course with almost7000 yards and greens and fairways are in excellent condition. Love to come here and many more rounds in futur.
Pace of Play was awful! 5 hour Round!
They let a 5 some on the course. No ranger to speed up play. Cart told us that we were behind by 19 minutes. 5 hour round!
GPS tells you pin placement yardage(front, middle, back) but no color code to determine where the pin is until you get up on the greens.
Quicksilver is still awesome
Great shape, especially for early April.
Always worth it.
Well maintained course
The course is in great shape for this early in the season.
This course is up hill
Majority if this course is designed UPHILL. The first time I played I was learning the course layout and pace of play was FAST and really did not take the opportunity to notice that almost every hole is UPHILL. The few holes that were downhill were blind shots again I did not notice the first time I played which was last season. Additionally is was unseasonably cold and windy with nothing to stop the wind on the course. Very few trees on this course. The greens were quick as I remembered last season.
Great green speed
Played on a windy 4/4 and i cant say enough about the quality of the greens. They are lightning fast for this time of year and this challenging layout is something I would not recommend for high handicappers. The gps in the carts is very beneficial but the key is to leave the ball below the hole and don't shoot for every pin. Middle of the green is preferred as many approach shots require a carry over a bunker. Great layout, facilities and staff make for a nice golf experience here.
Stonehands
Always a joy to play a championship golf course for the price of a municipal track.Carl and the staff are first class along with the entire facility.Hope they continue offering a great golfcourse for a long time to come.
We like the course
The first three holes everything went fine. Then on the fourth hole there were three foursomes waiting to tee off. It took over three hours to play the first nine. Waiting on every shot. The back nine went a little better but not much. It took over 5 hours to play 18 holes. The slowest round we have played this year!!!
My home course
Quicksilver is a well-designed and challenging course. The rough is usually thick and the greens are faster than most public courses. A good read of the greens for speed and break are necessary for one or two-putts. I am a bogey player and enjoy playing here on a regular basis. Suggestion to my female counterparts: play the gold tees for a little more of a challenge. The only big difference is on the tee for #17.
My home course
Quicksilver is a challenging and well-designed course. The greens are faster than most public courses and being able to read the breaks will help your score. GPS carts will help give you distance to the greens. Plan your strategy for each shot and enjoy the quiet and solitude.
Great course
The course was in excellent shape. Very consistent greens. Nice views and clubhouse. We will play again.
Great day of golf
I play at Quicksilver in a league during the week, but we only play 9 holes. I've been wanting to get out and play 18 to see if I could put a full round together.
Had a great round, pace was excellent, we finished in 4 hours.
The only complaint was that the bunkers weren't fluffed or raked at all and were hard because of the wet conditions from the day before.
This usually isn't an issue at this course though.
The pins were all in their easiest positions to keep the pace of play moving and it was much appreciated.
By far my favorite course in Pittsburgh.
Very Good Track!
VERY SOLID TRACK> Very few flat lies. Not for high handicappers. Green undulate a great deal. Playing down and UP MANY HILLS...most greens are elevated with traps in front.
GPS on carts helps but they do NOT TELL YOU if flag is in front middle or back. Sand in good shape and quite consistent.
I would recommend this course. The only real issue is that there is a "white tee" box at 6,500 yards and a forward "gold tee" at 5,600 yards...but nothing in between.
DO NOT try to walk course...way too hilly!
Very Nice Course
This course is in excellent condition. The greens are moderately fast. There are a couple blind holes. I used more club. I enjoyed my round.
Great Condition
Played the course 7-8 years ago. What a pleasant surprise!! Playing in Pittsburgh Quicksilver needs to be on your short list
Tough day
Rough was a bit long for having a fun day
Made play slow and frustrating when only a few feet off the fairway spending time looking for balls
Greens were fantastic and the fairways
Still we enjoyed it
Slow Play
I liked the course, but I cannot recommend it due to slow play. Our round took 5:11 despite the fact that we teed off fairly early in the morning. Later tee times likely took longer. You could try the course on a weekday but definately not on a weekend.
This is the best public course in the Pittsburgh Area
The course is always in fantastic shape. The greens are fast and severe. The layout is difficult but fair. The staff is friendly and the rates, while steep on the weekends, is well worth it. If I were to suggest one course to someone visiting the Pittsburgh area, I would suggest Quicksilver.
Avoid the rough!
The course is in great shape. The starter was friendly and helpful. I decided not to use the bag drop and he met me in the lot with a cart as I was walking to the facility. The first three holes are pretty straight forward and allow you to get comfortable. As you continue it gets considerably more difficult. The rough is thick and is not what you would find on a typical public course. The difference between hitting it in the fairway and the rough is potentially one shot per hole. We got a good value @ $34. I would not pay the normal rate of 60 to play here. The locker room has a shower facility that is open to all golfers. In summary the course is fun and very playable from the fairways. Hit it in the rough and your score will rise quickly.
Pace of Play
We got behind a very slow group and we and other groups stacked up. The group behind us notified the staff but to my knowledge nothing was done. We skipped the 12th hole or the round would have been 6+ hours.
