The Inn at Pocono Manor offers two championship golf courses, conveniently located less than two hours from New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Surrounded by the beauty of the Poconos, the inn has earned a spot on the National Registry of Historic Places. George Fazio designed the West Course, and the East Course was Donald Ross' creation. The East Course, the original layout, has hosted a number of legendary players, including Arnold Palmer and Sam Snead, since 1912. Ross carefully sculpted the mountainous landscape to create a course that is both challenging and memorable. It is shorter and tighter than the other course but they are equal in level of difficulty. The golf course is defined by the interesting water hazards that come into play on several holes, but the scenic views are also a draw.

Nice corse

Well maintained course greens were in nice shape some holes were challenging. Hole 7 was closed but there was another par 3 to make up for it would have liked to play hole 7 instead looked more challenging. Overall we had a good experience. I would defitly play there again

Ups & Downs

Interesting design. Fairways have major league elevation changes making for challenging shots. Greens were generally good, with minor, scattered turf damage. Tee boxes for seniors and forward positions are an afterthought. Looks like they picked out a spot up ahead and just mowed it. A simple wheelbarrow or two of dirt to level things out would go a long way. Cart paths are coming apart at the seams. Went in to get my $1 draft after the round (as per scorecard offer) and was told they don't staff the bar on Tue, Wed or Thu....bummer. Price was good.

Worth the money

The course is not in the best condition, some of the greens need repair. There were two holes where putting was made difficult because of dead grass.

The course is fair, the tall grass around the greens could kill your score. I lost 3 balls at the greens because I could not find them in the tall grass.

So so course

The course area is under a great deal of construction.

Part of one course part of another combined into 1.

Only $25 ,wouldn't rush back but would play it in a pinch .

Fun course to play

We always enjoy playing @ Pocono Manor; it's not a long course and not overly challenging. Some interesting if not unique holes - especially a couple of the par 3's. Only complaint I have is that a few of the greens are in rough shape; a few on the back nine had heavy doses of sand in areas making it virtually impossible to put from certain lies. This is not always the case, however. We play here 2-3x/month during the season.

Disappointing

Our bad day at Pocono East course started with normal access roads being closed to virtually no alternative directional signage to the course. The course distinguished itself only by virtue of the lack of care and its perpetual drift into degradation over the years. Nothing has been done to this course in terms of improvements since the days of Art Wall, Jr. Fairways were poor, greens spotted with mold kill, tees spotty to sparse with some greens sanded in a vague attempt to resurrect what appears to be a lost cause. I doubt that there could be any offered excuse for its status other than they do not really care. Get the golfers in, take their money and do not worry about them coming back.

Interesting course but greens were in poos shape

This course had hills and hidden greens and was a basically straight away course. Water was only here and there. Sand was very little. It had mogels like an old time course. Tees in good shape. Fairways in good shape. Greens were in poor shape and abnormally small. Some signs on the course for first time players may have helped. The layout was easy to follow but some greens were hidden. That coupled with the smallness of the greens made for the bit of a challenge. Improve those greens in size and quality and it will be a very nice course. It is quiet becuase the fairways to not parallel each other. It covers lots of territory in the woods. Don't worry the fairways are wide enough. If you hit 300 yards or more it can be more of a challenge as some hazards are just in the 300 mark.

Single with a group of 20 in front of me...

We had 2 harsh winters in a row so i knew the greens weren't going to be the greatest. Other than a large group of 20 in front of me preventing me to play through it was a good course to play. If you have a bad slice pack some extra balls. The leaves off the fairway will make them vanish. Once you get past hole 2/3 you won't see club house until 18. Stock up before heading out.

What a shame.

Beautiful Donald Ross design except for maybe two holes.

The course was basically unputtable.

I always said "don't mind playing a dog track if it has good greens. This was more like a great course with dog track greens.

Stay away until they put in new greens.

Pocono Manor East

Course has potential but definitely shows flaws on the greens. VERY DIESEASED LEPRACY GREENS. I don't know if they had a bad winter or what, but just about every hole was like that. Other than that it was a better day golfing than being at work, layout was a little weird couple blind shots, interesting. I would go back, but only if they assure me 100% that the greens are fixed. If you live within 10 miles might be a good deal, but for me 25$ and a 45 minute drive wasn't worth it. DONT BE SCARED TRY IT OUT FOR YOURSELF THEN WRITE A REVIEW, WHATS THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN??

Not good

I played Pocono Manor late last year, the course was horrible, figured I try it again to se if things were getting better. They aren't, the greens were awful with huge patches of brown dirt, yet the grounds crew is working on bare patches along the cartpath!! I mean, if I saw some grass seed, trying to correct the problem, I'd have hope but the cartpath seems more impotant to them. The worst part of the day was actually trying to get there, the road to the course is closed, and nobody thought it a good idea to maybe put up some signs telling you where to go? Total mismanagement.

Pocono Manor

I would neverpay 30 dollars to play this course again. Worth it if you can find it for 10$ on Golf Now. Very poor conditions. Not taken care of at all. Also, Terrible time getting there with all of the detours

The course was in good condition and the scenery was nice.

The course was in good condition both fairways and greens. Pace of play was great as no one was on our backs. Once you cross the road, holes #3 (par 3 with downhill hidden green), #4 and #5 (both short par 4's) can potentially cause play to back up. Perhaps, consider converting both #3 and #4 holes into one par 5 hole. Make temporary #2 par 3 hole into a permanent hole. Other than that, course was challenging enough...especially for women as it is about 5,900 yards from Red tees.

pocono manor

Nice views , friendly staff, coarse has some challenging holes with a lot of elevation changes and small greens. Greens recently aerated , most were very sandy and bumpy , not much grass left so a true rolling putt was not possible, have played plenty of coarses that had been recently aerated but so much sand made this a great disappointment. Played our round october 24th so a lot of leaves on the fairways caused the loss of too many balls hit in the fairways, overall we enjoyed the round even though the greens were disappointing and the cost of loosing so many balls hidden by the leaves.

East Course - Pocono manor

This course was tucked away and hard to find. The pro shop tried to charge me the max rate even though 20 minutes prior to getting there I called to confirm my tee time and discounted rate. Once on the course I ran into 5 groups of people. The first group let me play through without hesitation but the foursome in front of them were a group of ladies that took their time and searched for lost balls in the weeds. When I pulled up behind them on a tee box they said that there was a foursome in front of them or they would let me go past. In my experience how are they to know if the group in front will or won't let me play through as well. The pace of play on this course should be reserved for children learning the game and someone that wants to spend 6 hours play a round of golf. There are no rangers to speed up play. For the money go play Mount Airy. I ended up paying $35 dollars to play East course and $25 dollars to play Mount Airy.
