About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

An underpriced underappreciated gem
They're putting a ton of work into maintaining and updating this classic. Findlay was kinda all over the place as an architect but this is his best work. Keep working on the bunkers and treelines and fix the fungus on the teens and it'll the world class.
Would frustrate golfers who struggle to elevate the ball but everyone else should go.

the greens were nice and fast.....the best round I've had in a year.........course is in great shape even with a few trees down.......reminded me when it was private

Great course
The drive in shows a spectacular club house. The almost 100 year course is amazing a true test of golf. I used every club in the bag. I will be back
can I really play
weather gr8.course nice.....my game sucked......so bad I had 1 par, at least it was on 18....so I will not give up the game......just one of those days
Best bang for your buck
Easily one of the best public courses in the area. Also pretty awesome it has a history of some pros as well, with Byron Nelson being the club pro and Sam Snead still holding the course record. Highly underrated course. If you haven't played this yet, add it to your list!
Golf
Good, challenging course. Hills up and down, turns left and right. Tight/open fairways and greens. Have to know where to put the ball, or you’re in trouble. Slippery putts.
Tough challenge as usual
I don't care how good you THINK you are, come play this classic beautiful golf course for a real challenge. Par 3's are diabolical and not a course in the state has any total tougher, even from the white tees. The average player has no hope from the blue tees. They are all gems. Most par 4's and 5's are going to make you play good drives to have a good score. Greens are pretty quick and require good putting as all have slopes to be reckened with. This is a BEAUTIFUL course to play for the average to great player. Heck, Pro events used to be played here. Beginners GET LOST, as you will stink up the joint. I love this course.
Trying
they are trying to get the course back to what it was when Private.........greens were slow which was to be known.........rough tough as always........do not like raised cups but it was nice to play again
Keep up the good work and someday soon,I hope, it will be back to being the best couse in Berks Co
Great Nov. Day
Bad news was only enough light to play 16!
Good news was I carded my first hole in one on No. 5!

the course has always been fun to play.........with some work from the Township this could be great again.......bunkers do not have any sand and are water filled..........greens are good but could be great as they once were............fairways spotty............all in all still a fun course to play
reat course needs some help
this course use to be one of the best in Berks Co......now that the county has it average at best.........greens are still good, could be better........the bunkers suck, do not try to play out of them.......fairways patchy.........all that said it is still a joy to play.........WORTH A LOOK
Worth way more than I paid.
STAFF: incredible. Guy greeted me and loaded my bag onto a cart and washed my club heads. When I came out to tip him he was gone.. Guy working pro shop was VERY accommodating. I was an hour early for my tee time and all he asked for was my name and I was off and playing. Guys mowing and blowing leaves were VERY polite.
COURSE: while nothing to go crazy over, it is a very nice and well kept track. Greens were fast and fair. Fairly short course. Houses only came into play on 2 holes. A few rough spots on a few greens, but overall a wonderful layout.
PACE: I was by myself on a cart. I needed to play through 3 groups and they were all VERY polite and accommodating. Finished in 2 hours and 15 minutes without rushing.
COST: I paid $12 on GolfNow. It took me an hour to get there and about 80 miles of round trip driving----------and well worth it. Will definitely return.
Hit them Straight!
This time of year is always tough; the errand shot gets lost in the leaves. Course does a pretty good job clearing leaves, but they will be falling for some time. Greens are in excellent shape and fast!
Great course with a lot of great history behind it. Always a great time playing there.
great course needs help
after being a member there for years is is a shame to see the course condition todyay..........shame the course has great bones but needs some help from township to make it great again
