Reading Country Club
About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

Not what it use to be!
Traps were in terrible condition. Greens are very inconsistent. But all in all with the hot deal price it was a good deal and an enjoyable round.
Friendly staff, great course with interesting variations
2nd time that I played Reading CC, staff was very accommodating since I was a single. For me, the course is challenging and it requires shot placement; looking forward to a tournament I am organizing later this year at Reading.
old style
This is a wonderful old style layout. It is dripping with history as well. It isn't long but it plays longer than the yardage on paper and there is a premium on accuracy. Fairways are contoured with the hilly terrain and greens are sloped with subtle breaks as they were built when the course was designed. There isn't much I didn't like. The 11th hole is quirky but I understand it isn't an original hole. The par 3's are challenging and while three of them were different yardages I played the same club from the tee on It's not particularly close to where I live but I definitively will be returning to play there.
Will be back!
Short. Tight. Small greens. Mature trees. Very nice course. Enjoyed our round. Will return soon.
Reading CC a nice surprise.
Played yesterday at Reading Country Club, a bargain price to ride with the GolfNow discount. The course was in excellent condition. Greens are extremely fast but true. Fairways are narrow and the first cut is quite thick. We played the blue tees since the length is only 6150 yards but a slope rating of 131 lets you know there will be a few long holes. Great course for a great price. We'd come back.
RCC is on point
Yesterday had to be the 20th time I've played at Reading country club. Staff is unbelievably friendly, course is challenging, yet manageable for all skill levels. Well taken care of, with the exception of the Berks county residents who don't like bending down to fix their divots. I probably fixed 8 divots yesterday that were not from my ball. Also played behind a threesome of good golfers for 17 holes. But when you see a Gentleman waiting on the tee box at every single hole, you should probably just let him play through. I played by myself yesterday, and couldn't believe that these jabronis didn't let me play through. So the round that should have probably taken me 2 hours to get through, took 3 and a half. It's called pace of play fellas. Don't be inconsiderate. Even if you are the playing well. I would highly recommend RCC.
Worth a visit
Old fashioned course with lots of tree lined fairways and doglegs. It was in excellent condition. The greens were smallish and fast. My only complaint would be the " blind shots " that occur on a few holes. Being a " first time course player ", these shots caused some concerns. This course is certainly worth another visit because of the conditions and design. Last but not least is the magnificent Tudor styled clubhouse that houses a pro shop, food and beverages, locker rooms and is visible from almost every hole during the round.
the Reading
have played the course fairly often over last many yrs.......was the nicest I remember of recent yrs......the greens use to be very fast and they played a little slower and that was nice......other conditions on course we very nice
In great shape
I have been playing Reading CC probably twice a year for 5 years now and I think this was the best shape that I have seen it in. The greens really rolled well, and had very few trouble spots.
We were lucky to get out in a gap of time with no one in front or behind, which made it better - always good to play in 3.5 hours.
Has some very scorable holes if you are playing well - if you drive it well you will have a lot of good scores.
some elevation changes and other hazards to make sure you think about your club selection.
Nice bar attached.
Al
Greens were terrific as was the course... Kudos to all at Reading CC.
Fantastic Course!!
Can't say enough good things about this course and the staff. First time playing here, so I didn't know what to expect. We played as a foursome on a Sunday morning that we purchased on GolfNow, so I was initially leery about the pace of play, but those concerns were soon put to rest.
The drive up to the old style clubchouse is breathtaking. The architecture of the building is something you have to see. I arrived about 45 minutes before our tee time and was greeted by the starter and a very friendly gentleman working the pro shop. They could not have been more helpful; rolled some putts and we were off.
The course is absolutely beautiful. Quite a variety of holes, and not crazy long from the white tees, but you need to be accurate. I think I hit driver 5 times all day. I relied on my 3 wood and 5 wood to get me around this challenging layout. All the Par 3s had great character and I loved them all. The stream that runs through the course really can mess with your mind on a few holes and make you think, which is great. I scored a little higher than average, quite a few 3 putts and some difficult chips.
Everyone in our foursome loved the course and will definitely play it again. After our round we had some food and beer on their new open patio. View and beer were awesome, as was the food.
3 of the 4 guys live about 20 minutes from this course. I, however, drove 2.5 hours each way to play this course, and quite honestly, I would do it again, I loved it that much. Great job RCC!!
2nd Time At Reading
The course was in great shape for early April. Pace was just a bit slow but we were a 3 some. I really like the layout with crossing the Creek various times.
overbooked
My wife and I were looking forward to going out the first time this year and enjoying a round of golf. It started with the gentleman handling the desk working by himself with no help. No starter and people all over the place. we teed off 15 minutes late and had to wait on every hole. It took us almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. We stopped playing after the 9 holes due to obligations we wouldn't have met if we had played all 18. Very disappointing and probably won't go back regardless of the price. I understand rounds of golf are not perfect but it wasn't a good start to see where you want to play this year.
Great valu
This is a terrific course, terrific conditions, and the friendliest staff ...... a great value.
Good time
Had a real good time at RCC. Nice staff. Great course with a ton of history and character. A few more yardage markers would be my only request. I'll be back.
Nice place to play
A short ride from me about an hour and a half, The pro shop is around the right hand side of the Magnificent looking Restaurant the pictures don't do it justice. A quick check in then a heavy downpour of rain. I asked for a yardage book and they didn't have any but Tom came out a little later with his own from his bag and gave it to me ( That's a professional move/ I did return it when we finished ) They really help when you are unfamiliar with a course. I was paired with a father and son who have played here numerous times which helps too. Its a compact course but challenging, its in good shape and the greens are fast. It has some pretty area's in the layout as well. A couple of elevation changes and water hazards. From 9th green to the10th Tee box is through the parking lot to the par 3 10th. I finished with an 88 on this course. I liked it and will be back again. 'Give it a try if you haven't been there yet.

Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
I apologize for the poor experience you had at RCC. I know the day you are referring to. We had a shotgun tournament that day and the course was fully booked and not managed efficiently. I was not at the course due to a personal issue. We have a mission to make RCC a success in 2017 so we need to generate more play on the course. We are under new management starting in January and have now hired a head pro that will start next week that will greatly improve operations. No excuses, but we do value your comments and would like to have the support of the community in our mission. Please give us another try with a free greens fee round at RCC, cart fee only. The course is in fantastic shape and we are adding many new features for golfers including a new 19th hole cafe/bar, upgraded range facility and new tees to accommodate golfers of all abilities. Sincerely, Dave Speece, RCC GM of golf operations.
