Reading Country Club
About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

Great layout - well groomed.
Played today with my wife and another couple friend of ours from NC. The great feature of this course is the tee locations for women. It makes the round competitive for us all and adds to the fun of the day. Our second time at RCC and the staff was again very courteous and accommodating. A fun day!
This course used to be one of the best in the area
Wow, this course used to be one of the best in the area and one of my personal favorites! It was a privilege to play not more than 2 years ago and now is in terrible shape. Fairways are very high and patchy, greens are much slower and have rough patches, and the tees are subpar at best. I'm so disappointed and don't think I will be coming back until I know if the conditions are much better!
Deteriorating conditions
Restaurant was closed. Restroom closed. Had to use portopottie. Course was arriated without prior knowledge of booking tee time.
Very nice course - great value
1st time playing this course. Staff was very friendly & accommodating. Course was in good shape with a few rough patches. Greens were firm & very challenging. Definitely a course to play again.
solid course
Have played nine different public courses so far this season, best greens.
Very challenging
This was my first time and I had a tough time with ball placement. There are also a couple of blind tee shots which makes it tough to find your ball if you are not in the fairway. There are also not too many flat lies which can add to the challenge. Overall I totally enjoyed it and plan on playing there again.
Very cool playing a course that held a Ryder Cup in the 1950s
Excellent Layout
Breezed through with 4some on june sunday with not many delays. Price was right through GolfNow, no complaints. Layout is excellent, some spots little rough around the edges. Good value.
Early after rotten weather last yr...
Give. It a breakbut has a lot of bad spots ....tees were bad and fairways and other grass areas have lots of weeds.....will be back and hope they get it back tonormal cond.....hopeful
Very nice course
Course was in good condition for this time of year! There was a lot of variety in the layout of each hole. I would definitely play this course again!
good mix of holes
very good conditions for April, but I wasn't in any traps. liked the design. will go back
Must be to early in the season. Tee boxes, sand traps, and greens were in rough condition. Greens did not roll, fairly bouncy. Traps were hard and rocky. Tee boxes were sparse and not well groomed. I'll try again later in the season.
Incredible Public Gem
If you like Alex Findlay design this course is for you. Considered to be one of his proudest designs this formerly private now public course plays across undulating topography and has really creative greens that require study. If you are a walker and up to walking the course the cost is basically half the cost of playing with a cart. I went on a beautiful fall weekday without a tee time and played 18 just over four hours by myself and then after lunch decided to loop it again.
I can't say enough about the history and layout. Findlay design has you employing creative shots. The long drive is not always the best choice might have to tee up the 4 iron so that you can hit a good approach. The pro shop is still Byron Nelson's shop where he used his winnings from the Masters to buy clubs and supplies to sell and repair for the membership. The staff was incredibly friendly and I plan on making the drive out from Philly again when I have a full day open in my schedule.
I highly recommend this track.
Old favorite, new food venue, hornets too frequent
I continue to enjoy the layout of this old course. They’ve made some changes with a new covered eating area outside which is good Andrew smart. Course conditions were same as prior, generally good, but the number of holes with hornets was out of hand. I reported it to the clubhouse in hopes they will address it. Absent that issue, it continues to entertain my eye when I play it.
