Reading Country Club

About
Opened in 1923, Reading Country Club is one of the area's oldest golf courses. Located less than a half hour from King of Prussia, the course is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Berks County area. Though it has a traditional layout that doesn't have the length that most modern courses do, that hasn't stopped it from being one of the most challenging public golf courses in Berks County. The rolling terrain provides a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. The course will test you with lightning fast, undulating greens that are protected by sand traps and there is punishing rough bordering the narrow, tree-lined fairways. Be prepared for uphill shots and blind approaches throughout the golf course. Reading Country Club's par 3s are especially notable for their difficulty.

great course pace too slow
the course conditions were great now that Brian is back...the work on No 5 is outstanding the only problem was the pace....the idiot 4sum in front did not let us play thru, we were 2, so we skipped No 4 then ran into a 2sum that thought they owned the course...extra balls waiting for green to clear than coming up 50 yards short....we had enough and only played 9.......nobody's fault just how people are in todays world......we will be back because it is too nice not to play......maybe a ranger would help???????
Great set of greens
I always make sure I get back to play this course at least once a year because it is one of my favorite public courses. A great traditional layout that makes you hit many different shots and an outstanding set of greens. This isn't a course that you can just bomb away so you have to use a little strategy and think your way around. A couple of holes are under construction and that's OK because it shows the new owners are putting money into the course. The rough was up so it made for a tough test of golf if you missed the fairway. It also made the time to play the round longer because it was a little hard finding your ball. But, I wouldn't have it any other way. When you can play a public course rich in history with a truly spectacular set of greens you have to give it a try. I would play here every week if I lived closer.
Angry staff with bad conditions
Staff and patrons were grumpy and rude conditions were overhyped
Fourth of July Special
After two days of rain, the course played well. To be a holiday, it was not packed and the value through GolfNow was fantastic.
Nice course
Nice course that is under new management. Beautiful building and facilities, and very friendly staff.
6/12/25

slow but nice
the course was full due to weather last week so slow which is something do not enjoy....they are doing work to make the course better so some holes adjusted......greens were good but need to heal from too much rain....all in all was a joy to play as it has been for the last 30 years....BTW the new owners are trying
