Greens in bad shape
There have been some really nice improvement over the last year with new tea boxes bunkers with real sand and more to come. However, no one seems to be taking a good look at the greens as they have gone from fair to bad and just three or four months.
We’ll try again in two or three months but it’s gonna take some time if they actually get attended to.
Nice changes but greens going downhill fast?
There have been massive changes to this course with over $750,000 in improvements to the course, driving range and clubhose. My last round was around June 1 and things were really getting great. Lots of improvements to tee boxes, trees coming down and freshly sanded bunkers. But now the greens are really going downhill? How could this happen? The course is really getting a lot of improvements but no one seems to be taking care of the greens. By far the worse greens of any course in the BFL area. Sad. Will try again maybe next year to see if the greens are fixed but it may take a lot longer than that. Driving range is completely being redone and not operational as far as I could tell.
Great round
Playing better every time we go. Some greens still have issues but are improving. No water to drink on the course and it is getting pretty hot out there.
Much better this week
Greens mowed today and rolled much more smoothly. Hope ice water in Igloo coolers are placed in the stands. Hot weather is coming and need to refill my water bottle when far from the clubhouse.
Love the improvements and good sand in the traps.
Like improvements but things are slipping
There is a lot of work still going on this course. We are looking forward to the final upgrades. However, there are some minor issues that need some attention. There isn't any water to drink on the course as in previous years. The Igloo coolers with ice water are now missing? On a hot day this is going to be a big problem or you just need to prepare to bring your own chilled H2O.
The greens were extremely slow and I'd guess the greens were not mowed recently. Additionally, there are some greens with quite a bit of damage, (fungus issues?) and you must move your ball around some unplayable repairs and dying patches on some greens.
Nice to see that the waterfowl issues have been addressed and they are rarely a problem on the course. Two years ago ducks and geese were defecating all over the course near any water. Good work to nearly eliminated those issues!
Great family day
I took me my wife and my 3 year old we were able to play at our own pace with no drama good time little pricey but worth family fun
I'd play again
Decent track with some challenges. Fast and ungulating greens make this course deceptively challenging. New tee boxes on the back 9 are nice. Hopefully the team replaces more tees the way they're doing on the back. All in all I had a good time on this course. If I'm in Bakersfield again, I'd play here.
Things continue to improve :-)
We have not played here in months. Got a good deal on a nice day so wanted to see how the improvements are coming along. It was great to see fluffy white sand in nearly all of the traps. Lots of trees have come down. Lots of improvement on some of the tee boxes and the aesthetics of the course. We are in winter here. Greens are fast and no surprises near the hole. However, the edges on some greens are ragged and just moist dirt. You can tell attempts are being made to improve and cold weather means it will take time. The fairways are pretty hard and grass is dormant. Average for the public courses here at this time.. We like the improvemnts and if the progress continues this summer should be great. We look forward to trying it out again in a coule months.
Extremely pleasant experience!
This was my first time playing at Rio Bravo. The experience was an overall 10! Staff was welcoming and helpful. Pace was was amazing. Course, equipment, and facilities were great. I have absolutely no complaints.
