Punched Greens
I love this course and appreciate the deals on golf now. Only issue I had was that the greens had just been punched and sanded. Nothing was posted to let me know that until after I paid for the round and showed up This would have been better if they had told us of the conditions.
NOT RECOMMENDED
I have played this course MANY times, and have never been so appalled at the conditions. The greens were a solid 4/5, I will give them that. The fairways and rough hadn’t seen a mower for over a week, massive grass clumps in the fairways, unkempt and weedy tee boxes…it was absolutely terrible. I love this course and it’s a crying shame what it has come to.
good practice course for the beginner like me and my wife.
Great layout. Needs TLC
Played here a few times. Really like this course. However a downside of all our recent rain has brought out all the bad growth. If your Just off the fairway and you’ll never find your ball but you will find 2 or 3 other lost balls. Not fair to everybody including the lawnmowers. I’m sure they are aware and will mitigate it. I just hope it’s soon.
Beautiful
Playing at Rio Bravo was a wonderful first time experience. Fairways were well kept and greens were FAST!
Fast play greens not quite ready after punched
We played on a lovely day. Fairways in pretty good shape. Some of the roughs need to be mowed. The greens were probably punched 3 weeks ago and still quite bumpy and slow. #16 green needs more work but seems to be improving slowly.
Pace was pretty fast for spring break. Good that there is several drinking water stations on the course now. Look forward to playing again when greens back to normal in a couple of weeks.
Not a course for beginners
This course isn’t for beginners at all. I lost more balls then I wanted too. They grass was cut and the clippings were left on the course. The trees were poorly managed, many dead and improperly cut trees on the course. Almost no views of the surrounding hillsides. Also the drink I ordered from the bar had almost no alcohol for $9. Wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back.
Great course
Very challenging course long par 5s plenty of lakes great views
Challenging fast play, greens need work, fairways best in Kern County right now
For March these fairways are probably in the best shape of any course around Bakersfield (that's not saying much in March). Play was fast. Most greens on good shape and very fast. There are 2 holes where 25% of the green is unplayable. There are several holes where we had to move our ball to get good green between our lie and the pin. The greens on those holes had patches of rough dirt (or some type of black fungus?)on them. Greens will be punched 3/13 or 3/14 we were told.
Really like this layout. The 11th hole is one of the toughest holes in Kern County. +600 yd par 5 and you must climb over 100' to the green. Extreme left to right slope along the entire fairway too.
Rio Bravo golf course is a very good course to play and very fun even I am just a beginner. I will play as often as I can.
Great course
Have played here before. It is a great course with friendly staff! Can’t beat the price for a country club!
Fun Round!
Friendly staff, great customer service, and a wonderful and challenging course. Will play again!
