Morgan River at Dataw Island Golf Course

About
Morgan River, which opened in 1993, is the second golf course built at Dataw Island and is a striking example of the great talent of architect Arthur Hills.
Narrower than Cotton Dike, the Morgan River course is the more demanding of your accuracy but rewards every disciplined shot. It measures 6,657 yards of from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.0, and it has a slope rating of 138 on Bermuda grass.
The beauty of the golf course is dramatic, with breaks in the stands of massive oaks to create frames for the water views of the Morgan River and the savannas beyond.

Flies under the radar in the lowcountry
I had the chance to play this private course back in 2008. It certainly gets a lot less press compared to its neighbors, but it's quite a gorgeous place. There are beautiful oaks and lots of marshy scenery. It's a playable and pleasant Tom Fazio design. The 18th finishes with a bang, with some shades of Pebble Beach's finisher. There were dolphins swimming there as I finished my round. Pretty wild.
