Best course in the Carolinas
I had an invitation to this course a few time from some very good friends.
The weather wasn’t the best but the beauty of the course always makes up for that :)
Real Treat, some reservations
This course is very private and you get there in a very round about way. Very much worth the trip. Two rather different nines await you. The first nine is a bit disarming in that there are curving holes, not really doglegs which can make it very problematic to pick a correct line especially if you generally work the ball just one way. Picking targets can be a challenge, but you must stick to your guns. It is a bit more claustrophobic until the ninth which opens up as does the rest of the course. The second nine is far more creative, varied and visually attractive, even before you get to Port Royal Sound. Very scenic, challenging and memorable. Summary with disclaimer: Really interesting variety of holes other than the obvious weakness I noted of too many holes curving through wooded areas which took me 3-4 plays to really get the hang of. I like long views on a course and parts here blend together in memory/distinctiveness. That said, I fully recommend this course, most would give it 5*, I grade hard.
