Olde Beaufort Golf Club

About
Opened in 1970, Olde Beaufort Golf Club (formerly known as Lady's Island Country Club) is Beaufort's oldest golf club. It has a longstanding reputation for being one of the area's best values. The tight and challenging course demands long, accurate drives and cunning strategy. The layout twists and turns through dense groves of tall trees, making the golf course even trickier. True to its links design, the course is mostly flat but any lack of elevation changes is quickly forgotten when facing the strategically placed bunkers and numerous doglegs. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes. One of the most difficult holes is the beastly 10th. This hole requires a long tee shot between two bunkers in order to make room for the long second shot to the elevated green that is bordered by sand both left and right.

Good course for beginners
Course is a bit rough and greens could use attention. Challenging!! Didn't expect too much due to the price. Could be an awesome course with some additional maintenance
Good for beginners because of price the course is Challenging lots of beautiful wildlife and scenery
Old Beaufort Golf
I have played this course numerous times under different names. However, the current condition of the course is the worst I have seen it. I am glad that it will be under new ownership soon. I am hoping they make the necessary improvements to make this a nice course again.
Worst Course conditions I have ever played on
This course is easily the worst golf course I have ever seen or played on. The tee boxes are sand, no grass and the color markers are so faded it's hard to identify black/white. The fairways are half sand, half grass and as hard as pavement. The greens are the worst mess of the entire course, they are full of weeds, almost no grass, and impossible to putt from because of the weeds and the sand. The bunkers haven't been raked in forever and are as hard as rock. I don't think the pin locations have been moved for awhile because on holes 14 & 15 the cup is partially filled in with dirt so much the flag won't stay in the hole. Horrible value, $46 for 18 holes with a cart without any GPS. There are no drinking water stations on the course or bathrooms/porta potty. Avoid this course so maybe the owners will sell or fix it. It could be a nice course, fairly nice layout, mature trees and OK setting, but on a 1-10 rating for course conditions this is a 1.
Just find another course.
Didn’t understand why it was listed at 12.99 for 18 holes until I made it to the first Tee box. Course is not maintained and is no real challenge besides gravity does not even exist on the greens.
Great local course
I love this course I live in the area and It’s always a great time. I’ve played this course more than any other. Staff is great. They’re friendly and supportive. The only negative thing I can say is the course itself isn’t exactly at 100% when it comes to fairways and greens. Some areas are patchy and a bit rough. That being said, it’s not everywhere and it’s definitely not something I would let deter you from playing. I’ve always enjoyed playing here. Definitely check it out. 🇺🇸👨🏻🚒🤙🏼
Ratty old 18 hole course, up 802 a ways up from Parris Island, USMC base
I came down to the off-base military housing units to see my newest granddaughter. My son-in-law and I decided to just play the Back Nine of this course. Still the same "goat track" that I remember from the last time I was here. No sand fleas (yet!), but the course is still in pretty bad shape. The greens are awful and have bare sand spots and small weeds in places! Forget it, you know? Just land the ball on the green... Putt it as close as possible, pick it up, call it "good", and move on.
I wonder why they won't invest $$$ to rebuild it/restore it back to a nicer 18 hole course -- lack of funds?
I guess a more positive comment would be: This course is better suited for someone just starting out... Just got a nice set of clubs from Academy, Dick's Sporting Goods, etc... and learning how to play...
Tough Conditions, Good Clubhouse
I’ve been playing this course for a few years now and following its trends. I will start by saying the clubhouse amenities are solid for a course of this level; open bar/restaurant, decent indoor amenities. However, the conditions of the course are brutal at this time. The front half is Ok for the price. The back half looked almost abandoned on some of the holes. I will say that the greens and fairways are slightly better this year than this time last year. This is an ok option for a practice course, but by the time you pay for the round you’re better off spending slightly more for a course with better conditions. I really hope they pull out of this because of the limited options in the area but I can’t recommend this course at this time. Looking forward to hopefully a good summer season for the turf to fill back in.
Fun course
We've played this course for the past 3 years. It has had its ups and downs due to a fungus that infested the greens a year or so ago. The grounds crew tries very hard to keep the course in the best condition possible but the greens seem to be a loosing battle. If you want pristine (along with the prices involved) this is not your course. If you're just out for fun and some fresh air although this course can be frustrating, you'll still have a good time.
Great Suprise
I am down here on vacation and looked for a local course to play. This was an unexpected gem. We paid $20 to walk this course. It was in really good shape. Not perfect, but the greens were in nice shape and ran true. I talked with the lady at the pro shop and she told me they had a new greenskeeper. He has obviously made a difference. The course deserves a lot of business. They are trying hard. Highly recommended.
Nice course, but needs tons of work!
I came down here from Virginia to visit my daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids over Labor Day. My son-in-law took me to Olde Beaufort Golf Club and we played the Front Nine only.
There were bare patches on a few greens, causing us to *try* and putt, but we picked up the ball (calling it "good") and went on to the next hole.
If someone would invest in this course, and do major work on it, it would be amazing!
There was even mud in a few bunkers!!!
Sorry....

There were bare spots in the a few greens that made putting darn near impossible. We *tried* but picked up the ball (calling it "good") and went to the next hole. There was mud in some of the bunkers too!
If they could find someone to invest in this 18 hole horse pasture, it would be an amazing place!
Sorry....
