7 Lakes Golf Club

About
This is a well-conceived, challenging, yet playable course, with a good reputation among local golfers.
Water comes into play on quite a few holes. The fairways are relatively wide, but it will help to play your shot carefully. A few bunkers lurk in the fairways, ready to create trouble. There are also some greens that require well-placed shots over water from uneven lies. Overall, this is a well thought out, fun and thoroughly worthwhile course.
Peter Tufts, (the gentleman who designed the course), was the godson of Donald Ross and the Ross influence is obvious throughout.

Best Value in the Area
Was in town for 2 days for business and decided to try this course considering the great reviews.
Conditions were perfect on a great layout. Tough to find that for this price anywhere, especially in this area. Also a sneaky challenging course, but it was still very enjoyable. Mike in the pro shop was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back when back in the area!!
Hidden Gem
This course is short and in good condition. They have a senior rate on Wednesday of $18. A Great value.
Great Layout, but what happened to the greens
I recommended this course to our group because I had read great reviews and heard good things from some buddies of mine. The layout is unique and the fairways and tee boxes were in great shape, but 16 of the 18 greens had giant dead spots. Of the 16 with dead spots about 10 had less than 50% grass on the whole green. I'm not sure how they got like this, but I have a good guess. We played from 10am-2pm in 95 degree heat and not once did we see someone watering the bent grass greens. During a typical round in our area you will have to wait several times during a round in extreme heat for a greenskeeper to water the bentgrass. Never happened. I liked the course and would like to play it again, but not until the greens are fixed. Worst greens I have seen in a long time.
Really enjoyed my round
I played in the morning at foxfire, was so disappointed by condition of course, I left for lunch and decided to try Seven Lakes. I'm glad I did, the course was very nice. I played as a single in the afternoon of a Tuesday. There wasn't a single soul on the course besides myself, in the 90s with high humidity of course. The course was solid, grass cut nice and tight like it should. The greens were smooth and sandy per the area. The course may be just average level for the area, but after the terrible foxfire it made it seem much better.
Fun course
Enjoyable layout with plenty of challenges. It requires all the clubs in the bag. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our group of 10 golfers of varying capabilities found the course to be fun and challenging.
challenging but fun
The staff went out of their way to accommodate my wife and I and we really enjoyed the course. They put a local resident with us who was familiar with the course and it was a pleasure to meet him. We played three different courses on our trip and this was our favorite. The price was excellent also. We will definitely play there again on our next trip.
Great Deal if you are a loyalty club member
$45 for breakfast buffet, lunch off the menu, range balls and a round of golf. Best deal I found all summer. We visit once a year and the course is under new management. Clubhouse staff at check in were great. Restaurant for lunch not so much. Food was good but the waitress never came back. Only saw her when she dropped the food off (order was screwed up). It's too bad because the money saved from the meal would have been an $8 tip from myself alone. Tee to green course was in great shape. Greens did have light sand on them but it didn't effect putting what so ever. Bunkers had soft sand and were raked.
Good Test of Golf in Beautiful Setting
I was the guest of a member, who told me that I would enjoy his track. He was right. Although there are some flaws (some tee boxes, cart paths), I am told steps are being taken to improve things. As for the course itself, I was satisfied with conditions. Some of the dormant grass is still coming in in spots. The design is a challenge especially if you have never played the course. I was fortunate to have a member guiding me through the idiosyncrasies. If you don't know the correct target, you will find uneven lies and impeded views. The smallish greens with many feeding front to back make flat lies imperative. Fliers are no good. Driver is not needed all the time. Club selection is important. The community is beautiful, and the setting very serene. A glorious, sunny, comfortable day in Sandhill Country.
Check in person very rude
Check in person was very rude. He had over booked my tee time with a foursome and made me rush out to get ahead of them. Never apologized for his mistake. will never play there again.
Great Track
Nice layout, a lot of fun to play. Good mix of holes and shots to play. Great greens and fairways. Should be a lot of fun in the summer when the grass is green. Only downside was when we played after a big rainstorm, the course was wet and has a few cart path only holes. Would definitely come back.
Beautiful Course
Played this course for the first time and loved it. So many different ways to play each hole. Course was in great shape. Loved the turtles swimming up to the bridge at the tee box. Must play..
Amazing course!!!
One of the most beautiful courses in the Pinrhurst area! A must play! Hidden gem!
Truly Impressed
This was my first visit to this course and I must admit that it exceeded my expectations. The design and layout of every hole was fair but challenging. The staff makes you feel as if you are a member. The ladies in bar were very accommodating and the view of 18 sitting in the bar is amazing. I read somewhere before I played here that this was one of the best kept secrets in the pines area, I now agree with that statement totally. You must put this on your play list for anytime throughout the year. My group will surely be returning soon.
brought friends from michagan
fast greens that were very receptive ! best kept secret in the area. spread the word as I do this is how golf should be!
Not what you think
I thought 7 lakes had 7 lakes???? The town is called 7 lakes & the course had more water than that, but not all of the H20 came into play.
Being from the Northeast, I wasn't used to playing on dormant grass so early in November, so the lies I got weren't the best, but such is golf. Not always the fairest all the time.
The course has lots of elevation,L-R,R-L, up-down,down-up, & very good Bent grass greens like we have in NJ.
All in all for the price($21 on Golf now) a STEAL>> Heard it was going out to auction on Friday, Nov. 7th. Hope somebody buys it, & makes a few improvements to a good course
Great tough course that was over booked!
I have never spent that much time waiting on a golf course! At first we thought it was just the group in front of us. After 8 agonizing holes we finally decided to skip a hole to get around what we thought was two groups in front of us. Nope! It was backed up at the way to 18! We just golfed the first 9 again and had a great time.
Great conditioned Course.
A1 conditions in November.
Greens are small, run true and are quick.
Really is a beautiful course from start to finish.
We were waiting on every hole but still managed to get round in 3.5 hours.
Absolutely no complaints.
Best Course in Pinehurst Area
Being a native North Carolinian, I can honestly say this is the best and my favorite course in the entire Pinehurst area. I have played them all and no other has the variety and playability of 7 Lakes. The course conditions are always superb and you can make this course as tough as you wish by playing different tees. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommend. Very reasonably priced. Great value for the money.
Top notch
We had a group of about 10 and we couldn't have chosen a better course to start our golf weekend. The course is in great shape, greens quick and true. There is quite a bit of elevation change which is typical for several courses in the area. Our only complaint was no beverage cart and no snack shop open at the turn. But, we are there for golf right? Golf course is top notch.!
Outstanding value / should be on your list to play!!
Have played several times in past but first time in many years .. Excellent service , excellent condition and I had forgot how beautiful this course is .. It should be on your list to play .. You will plan a return trip as I am doing !!! Fast greens , must use all your clubs (hcap 14) and I love the fact they did not over seed !! Must more fun with over seeding !! Staff is very friendly and helpful ..
How were the greens? They were completely seeded last fall. I have a group visiting in September and don't want to be disappointed.
