Love playing this course
For the friendly price it makes it more convenient to play here than go to driving range. Good feel and awesome course for beginners and developing golfers.
Quail Ridge
The course was in average condition considering the lack of rain and/or watering. Greens were fast and fairways hard. The layout was better than average.
I was paired with three gentlemen two of which were retired ministers. They made my round a memorable one and would go back to play anytime.
Thank you JoeV15 for the four star review! We are pleased to hear that your pairing created a memorable and fun time. Hope to see you hit the greens at Quail Ridge again this season.
Thank you u000005027162 for the rating. Hope you can join us again this season.
Thank you u000005099461 for the five star rating!
Good, but...
The course was on cart path only due to very wet conditions which was fine, but on the 3rd hole a guy in a truck pulled over and walked up to is to remind us that it was cart path only. We were on the cart path and I'm guessing that he is just a home owner on the course, but it came off as us being spied on or something. Perhaps the course should have a policy that home owners should not approach golfers, but rather contact the clubhouse if they have an issue. I'm not even sure, but the experience did leave a slightly bad impression.
Thank you for the four star review! We apologize if your experience didn't match your expectations. We hope you can tee off at Quail Ridge again this season with a new perspective.
Thank you so much for the five star review! Come back and visit again in the New Year!
Great Layout
I'll be back! Greens rolled True.
Duffer
The course was in good shape and it was a perfect day for golf. I know that this course gets a good deal of play year round and I was surprised to see that the condition was so good. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Overall it is one of the best course in this area.
Enjoyable.
Good course. Nice greens. Open fairways. The pace was kind of slow because of a slow geoup but overall, I will return!!!
Long & open course.
This is a relatively long course with wide fairways, relatively few challenging hazards, fast greens, well maintained.
Typical Public Course
Quail Ridge at one time was one of the best public courses in the Memphis area. It has a nice layout that has varied and interesting holes. However it appears that Quail is now focusing on driving round volume and cutting costs. Greens fee discounts are readily available and makes the price easy on the wallet. The greens are in good shape and relatively fast. Unfortunately, the rest of the course is in mediocre condition. There is little attention to detail and the fairways and tee boxes are spotty. Quail gets a large percentage of high handicappers and 5 hour rounds are not uncommon with no ranger help. The driving range is unacceptable because it is now mats only and the mats are VERY poor. Not worth spending your money on a bucket here. Quail is OK, but there are now better options available.
Quail Ridge nice golf course
great vaule for the money nice track back nice is tough gets a lot of play conditon is good
Great neighborhood course
Fairways well kept, with smooth greens. Has some link style holes with a good mix of grass and sand bunkers. Creeks and water traps will keep you thinking. Staff has a home style feeling.
Course was fun.
Staff was nice and helpful. Course was fast, lots of hills, nice layout.
the course was in great shape
the staff was really friendly and the course is in excellent shape.
Horrible service and greeting
First walking through the door I was greeted by a disgruntled employee who was incredibly upset that I had an evening tee time made through Golfnow.com and made sure to let my wife and I know how mad he was. He told me I could not play 18 holes even though he knew I booked it for 18. He told me I could not finish within 3 hours, I argued and told him I could. He then informed me that I HAD to return the cart by 7:30 and I could not have a rain-check if I did not finish. Unfortunately I had to rush the entire time, I finished by 7:30. I wanted to go back to the clubhouse and tell him I did finish, and I will never be back. But I went home and sent Quail Ridge an e-mail. I was completely ignored by the golf course and since then am sending you an e-mail to let you know of 3 things. 1: the info I have just let you know about, HORRIBLE customer service!!!! 2: CORDELL - the horrible employee, with the most un-professional attitude I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! and 3: You will need a map to finish this course, there are NO signs anywhere and it is INCREDIBLY confusing, the worst mapped out golf course I have EVER seen. Will NEVER be back unless it is free!! DO NOT GO TO THIS COURSE!!! IT IS HORRIBLE!!!!!
Good neighborhood course
Very hot & humid day. Play average to slow. Course is somewhat tight. Lot of players out this morning. Not extremely hard but must hit it straight. Greens are very good fairways mostly good but a few bare areas.
Decent track
Decent public course with good greens and average fairways. The front nine is fairly easy, the back nine brings about some challenges. It is easy to see that this is a popular course, as on literally the hottest day of this year it had steady play on an early weekday afternoon. Whereas on most tracks, in such conditions, the course would be empty. I can imagine it being very crowded on a 75 degree weekend day.
For first time visitors pay attention to where you are going, it is easy to end up on the wrong tee. There are no tee number markings and sometimes the next tee does not follow the logical path. Look for the white in-ground direction markers throughout the course to stay on path. Even then you may have to get close to them to see exactly where the arrow is pointing. A good course if you live nearby or trying a new spot.
August 2014
Course was in great shape. Greens were an average speed. Appeared they had been aerated about a month or sooner. Also papered QR had hosted a tournament recently due freshly painted OB lines & Hazard areas. Bunkers could use some grooming. Great day playing and will be back.
