Good value
The greens are probably at 20%. Really dead and tore up. But the price is decent considering other courses.
Don't waste your money!
Don't wast your money. Take your $30 and go get a tee time on Golf Now for any other course here in San Antonio that will have actual greens. It is April and the greens are all dead, and half the fairways are dead as well. The Marshall is a complete jackwagon and will let you know you are playing over a 2 hour pace even though the whole course is backed up. Seriously, take your $30 and go play Northern Hills a nicer, friendlier course right up the road.
Could use a makeover
I think the course layout is solid for all levels of play. The wind is the most challenging aspect, but it's fun playing. No wind would make the course so-so. I think the overall course needs a facelift. Weeds are noticeable, greens are very bumpy. Most greens are not filled with grass and some are dead. They are fast, but only because it's like putting on packed dirt. Played with my father-in-law and was paired up with guys his age. We all hit it off. There are new homes along the fairways, but not very close. Landscaping on most homes looked really nice, especially from the newer homes. If they could get some fertilizer on the fairways, install new greens, clean up the weeds, it would be a terrific course. Yes, renovation costs, and we'd pay more, as long as it's not the high-end rates like other courses in the area.
POOR greens
I was very disappointed with the continued condition of this golf course. You need a jack hammer to get a tee into the ground for most tees. The fairways most have weeds for any green color and the greens are deplorable. No overseeding, no airiation. The street in front of my house, which is on a high, are slower. We hit several rainbow shots to the green and they would not even stay on the green. The golf course is getting increased play due to closing of Landa Park for renovation, but no improvements have been noted with the course.
This place is lousy
The greens are brown and are about as fast as the hardwood floors in my house. The bunkers are full of dirt instead of sand.
nice layout
Although we've endured a harsh winter, the course was in good condition. The greens were understandably not in good condition but could tell they were getting ready to emerge with their Spring growth. Really a sweet course, well marshaled and the office staff was attentive. Great deals offered and especially appreciated their Military Appreciation Day on Thursdays to honor our troops past and present.
OK for the cost.
Course was average, staff was above average. My wife and I had fun.
Course in poor condition
Greens and fairways were very brown. Course needs more watering.
Need to work on managing tee times/grouping
Good course, just need to work on improving pace of play... A lot of slow playing seniors who don't let faster players play through
Course took too long
Had the luxury to get paired up behind a group of old people who were also walking the course...starters could've done a better job in placing groups that tee off around the same time. Other than the time frame, I enjoyed the course...not too hard but still challenging for even a 10 handicap...greens needed a lot of work and putts weren't always as true as one would expect
Cold and windy golf
Played on 2/2/14 and had the course to ourselves since the temperature was 40 and the north wind was 25 mph. The wind made hitting a low ball flight a premium to score. The course was in good condition and the greens were very receptive to shots from wedges to long irons. The greens were quick but rolled true. Sand bunkers had a thin layer of soft sand on top which made bunker shots difficult to control; probably just a result of the high winds we had. I have played this course many times and will continue to play here.
good value, club house under going repair and up-date

We love Northcliff. It's challenging and beautiful!
We had to turn the golf carts in at 5:30 yet had four holes left to play. The course seemed to be booked too tight, we were paired with another twosome that slowed us down, a lot. So, we paid for 18 holes and only got 15. Our tee time was 12:18 so there was no reason we did not have time to play all 18 holes except for the delay in overbooking, turning in the carts too early, and pairing us with other players that could have gone maybe 5 minutes before or after us so we could have kept MOVING! NOT HAPPY WITH THIS BECAUSE WE NEEDED TO RECORD OUR SCORE. WANTED TO USE IT TO DECREASE OUR HANDICAP!!!
Good features
Greens rolled well. if they could have turned up the heat outside it would have been perfect. Improvements to club house are really looking good with new deck completed .
Very nice course and very well maintained.
We had an awesome day of golf. Weather was great and this course was all you could ask. They were a little backed up so we waited between holes a lot but I don't think this is the norm. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a good value for a great day of golf.
Conditions greatly improved
The course used to be plagued by rots in the fairways, hard pan
and bumpy greens. Now the ruts are gone and the fairways
have filled in nicely. My buddy and I decide we could even play
the ball down and never got a bad lie. Also the greens were pretty smooth and had a consistent speed from green to green.
All in all, a vast improvement from the old days.
Cheap but not in good shape
I don't know what course some of your reviewers have been playing, but we were disappointed in the conditions at Northcliffe. The fairways alternated between bone dry and soggy and the greens were quite rough. On the positive side, the layout is interesting and inexpensive. But frankly, I'd rather play Riverside where a putt keeps going in the direction you roll it.
course is maintained nicely.
good course to play if you get a deal but not at full price. the club house is undergoing repair. the only real problem i have is about tee times. on the weekends the just let people play instead of making them wait for their official time they signed up for. you may get stuck behind someone. But i would still play here.
