Deceptively challenging
Great course. Great value.
This course is in great shape and is a blast to play. The pace is usually faster than average. Recent bunker upgrades have added teeth to an already deceptive course. It appears to be open upon first sight, but if you stray from the fairway the penalty is severe. The added scenic views adds to the round. Look close and you may even see a Bald Eagle nesting close by. Catch a great burger from the clubhouse when finished. This course won't disappoint.
senior golf
I had a great time . Everybody that work there are so great. I always have a great time. The course is in good shape and some of the greens are being worked on, but very playable. Great day on the course. Thanks
Sleeper!
I used to play this course when it was a barely upgraded cow pasture. The renovation a few years ago turned this course into a must play. It is in a beautiful setting; with beautiful views of the lake and it's near impossible to hit a house - a remote area for sure. Any way, the layout is challenging. Carry over water (Lake Pat Cleburne) on #4 is daunting. The par 3's are tough enough. But, the real bright spot is how this course is maintained. The fairways are lush; the greens are challenging but always cut properly and roll great. The T boxes are maintained and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The value is exceptional. Plus, it is remote enough that you can get a T time anytime you want to play. This course is a "sleeper" in my opinion. If you try it, you will be back because the average golfer can score well on this course. Now, the best hamburger at any golf course ever is a real treat. Jalapeno buns and thick, juicy burgers that are flame broiled make this a great course to have a great lunch before, or after your round. Like Billy ray says, "I like it, I love it, I want some more of it!".
this course is great for me.
I have issues with my Back & Knees and the staff is great on helping and I get to do something I love to do. I can play by my self or with others with no problems. The greens my be rough but they are trying to fix the issue, you can see that they are being worked. there are other courses in the area that have issues also.
Was a nice course in the spring
Major problems on most greens. Don't know what happened since early spring. No water bottles to purchase at clubhouse at start of round. No Poweraid on cart girl's cart during round. After the round, the snackbar said no more hamburgers because it was 4pm. It was actually only 3:56 pm and he had 2 on the grill at the time. Half the reason I went there was for the famous jalapeno bread cheeseburgers. They are delicious. Disappointing to say the least. Should be major green fee discounts until the greens are better.
This is a really good course but right now many of the greens are in terrible shape due supposedly to cool temperatures this spring. I have played before and course was great. Everything still good now except for the greens.
Too pricey for the condition of the course
I consider this to be my hometown course. Lots of work being done on the greens and some new bunkers are in place. Staff is awesome as always. Luke is always running around with a smile and friendly. My only problem is the price for the course condition right now. And when I mentioned the Golf Now deals, "B" wasn't all that pleased with the course not seeing any of that money. Ask the city for more!!!! I'm trying to find good deals and stay loyal to hometown courses. Sorry dude
Nice course
For the most part greens are good and nice to play on.
It is a somewhat challenging course with the amount of wind coming off the lake and in general. The greens are in bad shape from the winter so they are starting to fix them. Would play this course again once the greens are fixed and it greens up a bit.
Great Layout! Friendly Staff!
I have played this course several times over the last few years and have always been pleased the course condition and the hospitable staff. The scenery is beautiful and runs along the banks of Lake Pat Cleburne. The grill serves one of the best hamburgers in the area and they always have cold beer on tap. Well worth the drive.
Disappointing
Well I've been playing this course since it was originated and even when it was the "Muni" and I must say the course is in the worst shape I've seen it in... ever! The greens are missing big patches of grass, they are hard, and fast! The fairways are dry and are also missing patches of grass... you would think with the mass amounts of water this course has available to use (lake pat) that this course would be anything but dry.. I don't know if it's mismanaged but they are going to have to do something to the condition, because the more I play it the more I believe it's not worth the money I'm paying. Why would I continue to play it at 40 bucks a round when I could drive up to glen rose and play an immaculate (minus some runaway bunkers) Squaw Vally course for a few dollars more. Overall disappointed that such a greatly designed course could managed to be so bad!
Awsome golf course
Really enjoy the layout of this course, great tips on play of course from staff, best burger west of I 35. Have played with some the best people in the area , from the staff to other players at course totally friendly people , I have been playing there for about a year and plan on many more years to come
Greens need significant work. They are mostly burnt out and/or diseased.
First time exp
This course had a great layout for any level of golfer. Practice range is in great shape. Fairways are not yet as plush as practice tee. Greens are coming along, a little slow but nice size. My buddy and I played here in 20 mph winds. It was a great challenge.
Great
Very nice ciurse. Outstanding value. We will make the drive again. Wind was a bear coming off the lake.
Clever layout
Playing this wonderful layout is fun and in a stiff wind it can test your A game.
Always a pleasure to play, burgers are the greatest.
