Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

almost an island green Photo submitted by roadgolfer on 02/15/2013
One of the Best Deals in Houston
I played here a few years ago albeit poorly and decided to give it another try. I recall this course being a steal as the group I played with got the hot now deal. I did like the layout. I played on Father's Day as a single but paired up on the second hole. The pace of play was pretty good with the number of groups on the course. I would call Red Wold a poor man's Cypresswood and one of the best bargains in Houston. I typically see many hot now deals for 15 for this place. The layout is fairly challenging with a few holes that require good ball striking to have a chance at birdie. Hole 9 is a solid finishing hole on the front side and the par 3 16th has an island green with a small bailout area long left of the green. Both are fantastic holes. Their is a good mixture of dogleg left, right, long and short par 3's and par 5's. Many of the holes will keep the experienced golfer on their toes. Driving the ball straight is a must as many holes are bordered by houses. The ones that aren't are bordered by thick trees that you cannot hit out of. The course is above average in terms of its condition. Some of the greens have some spots but I didn't have an issue with any of them not rolling true. One of the best facets of this course is the staff. They are very nice and accommodating. If you are looking for a golf course site on a weekend that isn't crazy busy and will test your game, try Redwolf!
very good
The course was in good shape.
The price was right My friend and I played 18 for 42.00s and change.
The temperture was hot buit I didn't Care, it was the first time out in 5 years.
There is plenty of water.
I had a lot of fun and hit a few good shots.
Greens were really fast so my putting was way off.
Had a blast!
The course was in great shape, nice fairways & smooth greens, an the staff was great. Worth the $. I'm glad a made the drive from The Woodlands, I'll definetly be back. An would recommend if you haven't played there, go try it one time.
Great value!
The course was in better condition than I expected. Fairways and greens were in good shape but some of the t-boxes were horrible. Overall great value with the GolfNow rate and will be back for more. But be sure to take your mosquito spray!!!
great course keep up good work
exelent day to golf course was awsome will be coming back and play thank you
Not very impresive
I guess afternoon golf in the Houston area is not my thing. I live in Florida and usually play at 1:00 PM or later and the heat and humidity here doesn't typically bother me, but this course was miserable. The excessive rain Houston has experienced lately has brought out new playing partners, mosquito's, and they joined on every tee box it seemed. The tee boxes were not bad, the fairways had a lot of bare spots and the greens were very bumpy and hard to read. There were several holes with forced carries over water. Then one fairway would be wide but the next may be narrow. Seemed like there was no rhyme nor reason for this layout. I must say even when I am playing poorly I usually still have fun, but this day was the opposite. I was striking the ball well but still had no fun on this course. I really cant say you should try this course or you should stay away, I am kind on neutral this time.
Good Test of Golf
The course played great, the ground was saturated due to all the rainfall and flooding but there weren't too many places with standing water. The greens are big and were fast even in the wet conditions
Nice greens.
The fairways were wet from all the recent rain in the area. I was very pleased with the condition of the greens as they were firm with no wet areas.
3 and a half inches of rain the day before teeing off
The course was wet so we played the gold tees. Staff was great, had $1 beer, hot dogs and drinks. There were not lot of other golfers so the round went fast. I will definitely return. It was the closest course open after torrential rain throughout the Houston area.
Nice course to play with beautiful scenery
Nice course, beautiful scenery, more than average bit of water, good paths to follow.
watch ou for the small par 4's
great course. fairways are wide and moderately challenging. Went long on several par 4''s so club selection is critical. Overall a fun course
Not bad
Nice course for the money. Tee boxes are kinda small and can use some leveling. I have played day after it rained so no comment on fairways. Greens seemed to be rolling true.
Nice course
Great course for all levels of play. Friendly staff.
Not bad for the price
It was not bad for the price and their was a special on the food and drinks on Tuesday
Red Wolf
Great course!
This course is in great condition and it has some of the whitest, softest sand in the Houston area.
The course is well maintained
The staff started our day as a winner when they allowed us to tee off ahead of our scheduled Tee time.
The play was pleasant and we played through a group of local players and they were nice people , could become close friends easily. The greens were fast and took some getting accustomed to. I am 79 and play the red tees due to the loss of yardage the tee box.
My son was with me and we had a very pleasant day I travel all over the USA with my wife , still my girlfriend, so we only get to Houston once a year. Seeing these family members is always a joy.
I will be using golfnow frequently in the future.
Thanks,
Herb Whitfield (golf nut).
Nice track great deal
Playing on a $10special rate. Great deal course was in ok shape as it had been raining all morning, played in three hours liked it so much played an additional 9. Would go back anytime
where is the grass in the fairways
greens are in good shape running true but the fairways need some grass
Cheap rate for average course
Got a deal on Golfnow for $10/person. The greens were fast and rolled true even though they were kinda wet from recent rains. The bunkers had good soft sand. The tee boxes were in really bad shape, most of them were not on level ground and were completely covered with sand. Most of the fairways are hard pan and did not have a lot of grass. All in all for the $10 I spent I can't complain. I would not pay the full rate to play here.
Red Wolf
Red Wolf was in good shape. The green complexes were growing in real well. Pace of play is never an issue. I've always liked the course for the value. Keep it up.
