Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Worth the Drive
The greens are better than they have been for many years. The fairways were good certainly not country club shape but they did have grass. The tee boxes were fair, some were sanded and they are doing maintenance every where! The course is challenging and with the tee boxes being spread out you can change the difficulty by changing tee boxes. If this course had country club fairways and good rough it would be as good as any course in Houston.
Nice round
Nice round on a perfect day for golf. The course is challenging and was in generally good condition. It was not crowded at all which made for a quick round.
course in great shape
nice course not bad for the drive great shape building to many houses I like it the way it was with no houses, but that,s the way life is
Not easy to find but worth the effort.
Friendly staff. Narrow, tree lined fairways with plenty of grass for mostly good lies. Greens smooth and well maintained. Some are small and require an accurate iron shot. Not crowded on Sunday afternoon when I played. You get great bang for the buck here at Red Wolf.
Best shape in years!
I've played this course off and on for 30 years. Other than the earlier years this is the best shape forever. Adding the yellow tee markers has been an enhancement for me even with a slope of 125. However, Lake Houston of the past & Red Wolf Resort now has always been a challenging golf course, but I really like what has been done for the course in the past few months. I'll be back for sure!
awesome course fast greens
i have played many courses in houston and red wolf by far is the one of the top 3 i've playerd. blackhorse (north and south) and tour 18. worth the drive from houston.
looking good
Finally got back to this course after about a year. Course has been kept up with only a few minor improvements needed. I have always enjoyed the challenge of this course.
Great Course
Greens running fast I can't wait until I get back out on the Course
Best kept secret!
I found this course thru GolfNow app. It is a great course somewhat challenging with lots of water hazards. Pac of play is great at the time of tee time. Distance from where I live is quite a drive but worth the price and course.
fast greens
Nice wooded layout..Dry conds. august in Texas.
Greens are soft and fast. Great value. Played in
3 hrs. Twosome I will be playing there again.
Pretty good for the money
Pretty decent golf course. Greens are in pretty good shape, fairly slow, but not bumpy or sandy. Sandtraps are well kept. Fairways are hard which means you get pretty good roll, but it isn't like hitting off concrete either. No roughs, miss the fairway and you are hitting from hard dirt. Playing from the tips makes it a somewhat challenging golf course for an intermediate player.
Great course for the price
Great golf course for the price. Way better than Indian Shores or Kingwood Cove. Also has a friendly staff. Will definitely be going back!
Good Value For the Price
It was hot as blazes today but the course played well. Course was in good shape including the greens. Greens played consistent and were moderate in speed. Only problem was getting behind a slow group on the front 9 causing a looooong round of golf in the mid-day heat.
This course was in great shape for summer
Have played Red Wolf in past but this is the best shape I have ever seen it in. Fairways are firm but good with few bare areas. Greens are awesome. Roll very well and when dry are a little faster than I remember. Some holes play a little long, example # 9 is a long par 4 with an approach carry over a pond. Even a good drive will leave 160 to 175 over the water to the green. Layup hole for me. Overall a great course
good course
Enjoyed the layout. Eighteen is a bear. The rest of the course is a challenge for the average golfer but not unfair.
Excellent for the price.
Course was in good condition, especially the greens. Perhaps as good as any in Houston and better than most. Fairways were hard, but grass covered. The bunkers needed raking, but were in good condition. Pace of play was good , just a tad over 4 hours on a weekend morning.
I intend to play here again soon.
Great course. Excellent greens
Aside from a few rough patches in the fairway the entire course was excellent. Greens were lime putting on a pool table. Staff was very friendly as well. Highly recommend this course.
Course in Great Shape
with the exception of a couple of rough tee boxes, the whole course was in very good shape.
The course was nice.
The course is in pretty good shape. Greens rolled true. Fairways were green.
This course has a little bit of everything
This has been one of my favorite courses to play for many years. It is challenging yet not impossible for any type of player. It is covered with many trees which adds to the natural beauty of the course. It is a fun course with many different hole layouts making it easy to want to come back. Presently it is in one of the best conditions with good grass in the fairways and very smooth greens.
