Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Great Staff and layout
I have not met a friendlier staff, except at The Golf Club of Houston, which is saying a lot! So that started the round off well. Met another friendly golfer and ended up playing with him. The layout and greens were fun, challenging, and very good for this time of year. Fairway and rough were a little patchy, but was told it's usually better (so I can't wait till it's in top condition). Had a great round, very open and nice that houses weren't close. Loved the woods. Par 3's were great, albeit challenging. Definitely be back soon and in the summer too.
great course
this course has a miix of water, sand, and elevation changes to make it very interesting
Great shape after all the rain last two weeks.
Cold Morning, tee time 11:07 AM. Course was wet but 90 degree rule. Weather got better as we played, course was in great shape. New Golf carts since I last played here. Despite the cold weather we had a great time. Thanks
Good value for the money
Greens were is good condition. Rein true and fast. Fairways had some patchy spots. Overall good for time of year.
Res Wolf
Still a good deal for Winter play. Fairways need
some help but it is Winter. Impressed by good use of a BLOWING machine to clear leaves off most of the fairways. A good challenging course.
Fun Day
I set up the tee time for my brother and I to go play and the rate was wonderful, the weather couldn't have been better, and the course was in pretty good condition. We had a fun day and my brother's shoes fell apart on the course! I would recommend the course to anyone wanting to play a round.
Coarse was not difficult to handle.
The coarse was wet due to rain. It's not fair to give a honest evaluation.
Course continues to show improvement!
I've played here several times in the last ten years & conditions are real good. The greens are very good...fast, true with subtle
breaks that keep you honest. Although fairways were a bit thin, its November, so expected that. Good sand in bunkers is great. Although its a bit of drive from Houston, thats part of its charm to me. Will be back again.
One of the better courses in the Houston area
Its a nice course not too long, a lot of trees but enough space even if hook one or slice. The greens were nice and challenging, bunkers, and water in good spots if you miss the green. I do recommend playing this course.
Worth the Drive
The greens are better than they have been for many years. The fairways were good certainly not country club shape but they did have grass. The tee boxes were fair, some were sanded and they are doing maintenance every where! The course is challenging and with the tee boxes being spread out you can change the difficulty by changing tee boxes. If this course had country club fairways and good rough it would be as good as any course in Houston.
Nice round
Nice round on a perfect day for golf. The course is challenging and was in generally good condition. It was not crowded at all which made for a quick round.
course in great shape
nice course not bad for the drive great shape building to many houses I like it the way it was with no houses, but that,s the way life is
Not easy to find but worth the effort.
Friendly staff. Narrow, tree lined fairways with plenty of grass for mostly good lies. Greens smooth and well maintained. Some are small and require an accurate iron shot. Not crowded on Sunday afternoon when I played. You get great bang for the buck here at Red Wolf.
Best shape in years!
I've played this course off and on for 30 years. Other than the earlier years this is the best shape forever. Adding the yellow tee markers has been an enhancement for me even with a slope of 125. However, Lake Houston of the past & Red Wolf Resort now has always been a challenging golf course, but I really like what has been done for the course in the past few months. I'll be back for sure!
awesome course fast greens
i have played many courses in houston and red wolf by far is the one of the top 3 i've playerd. blackhorse (north and south) and tour 18. worth the drive from houston.
looking good
Finally got back to this course after about a year. Course has been kept up with only a few minor improvements needed. I have always enjoyed the challenge of this course.
Great Course
Greens running fast I can't wait until I get back out on the Course
Best kept secret!
I found this course thru GolfNow app. It is a great course somewhat challenging with lots of water hazards. Pac of play is great at the time of tee time. Distance from where I live is quite a drive but worth the price and course.
fast greens
Nice wooded layout..Dry conds. august in Texas.
Greens are soft and fast. Great value. Played in
3 hrs. Twosome I will be playing there again.
