Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Great course for the price
Course was in great shape given all the rain we had. Greens were soft and fast, fairways were in great shape and course staff was very friendly. Plan on golfing here again soon.
I will play this course many more times.
Very friendly staff. There had been alot of rain and the greens were very soft ( plugging a few times when hitting the green ). I can't wait to play this course again when it's had a chance to dry up.
Great course, especially for the price.
Pace was good, no gimme holes, well maintained. Enjoyed the day, will go back.
Cannot beat the price
Not the greatest course in Houston, but well worth a 20 green fee. For this price, I will continue to play here again and again.
Worth the trip!
Pleasantly surprised with the conditions of the course, especially for the price. Fairways were a little dry, but we are in a drought. Greens were soft & receptive though and speed was just right. Fluffy, well maintained bunkers. Overall, a great value for a very challenging course and we'll worth the trip out to Huffman.
Mike the Magnificent ..... The Best Superintendant around.
I have been playing Red Wolf for a long time. I played the course more than 240 times since January 2012. The greens have been so consistent. Since Mike has taken over I don't notice a transition due to the seasons. He rolls them, sands, and aerofies them keeping them healthy. You must understand water limitations if you choose to complain about fairways. They are playable. The detail on this course is amazing if you saw this place in the 90's. Kudos to Mike he approachable and accountable. Red Wolf is great when you consider what Mike works with. Love this place.
A hidden gem in Huffman.
I definitely enjoyed this course as the staff was very professional and friendly; course well maintained and challenging.
Some of the fairways need a little TLC. Other than that the course is in great shape.
The price is great for this course. Like I said some of the fairways need a little TLC. The greens are in great shape. Huge and fast. The front desk personal is very friendly and very helpful. One thing I did like about it was that they give you a pin placement on the golf cart and its posted in the pro shop as you walk in. This course is a great for a person who hits it long and straight. Cause o.b. Comes into play on a few holes if your not in the fairway. When they say fairways and greens this track is one you must keep in the fairway or you will pay the price for any offshot.
Great value
Course in good shape. Very good value.
Greens were rolled nice.
Some of the fairways were a little thin.
Good pace of play.
Staff was helpful.
Kind of a far drive from downtown Houston, but worth the time.
excellent greens
best course I've played in a while. definitely will play there again very soon.
value course
Good weekday value course, pace of play a bit slow behind a couple of slow foursomes on the back 9. No marshal to maintain pace and sand traps leave a lot to be desired, but overall an enjoyable outing.
Always a great value
Quickly becoming my go-to course as it's right across Lake Houston from my house and you just can't beat the greens fees for the quality of this course. I played in May and it was a bit dry, but the fairways have filled in a bit and the greens were running pretty true when I played on July 26th. The staff is always awesome. A lot more people playing on a Sunday. Go during the week and you practically have the place to yourself (Don't let that secret go too far).
You can't beat the value.
This has become my course of choice. The greens are in great shape and there are several holes that will get your attention, especially #9.
Best I'd seen it in a long time
The course in overall the best condition i'd seen in maybe ever? The rough was clean and had levels. Tee boxes have been improved on a few of the holes. This course can be challenging on a number of holes. I would recommend this course not only for the value in terms of cost, but the experience is pleasant as well. ENJOY!!
Love the greens.
More rain and watering would help the fairways. Would have liked to play faster.
A Hidden Treasure
It was a fifty mile drive from my house, but well worth it. I had not played the course in over twenty years, but was sure happy I decided to try it again.
The course was in great shape and was quite a challenge. The greens were some of the best I have played. An added suprise was that on Tuesdays and Thursdays, hot dogs and beer are only one dollar.
Green Fairways and Excellent greens!!
This was my first time playing this course and I was very IMPRESSED of the condition of the course. Pro shop was very cordial and explained everything to us. Fairways have plenty of grass. Greens rolled true . Pro shop said they have a new guy taking care of the course for the past 2 years. FYI, I play Windrose, Woodforest courses and for the value and course condtions, I would play this Red Wolf!
Course was in very good shap
In the last ten days my golfing buddy and I have played three different golf courses and I believe that Redwolf was it the better shape. All in all a very enjoyable outing (other than the heat). Redwolf is an hour drive for me but worth the drive, i like the way that when you are one hole you don't see whats happening on the other holes around you.
Great Greens/Poor Fairways
If putting is your forte then by all means this course is for you. The attention given to the greens is superb. That being said I have to wonder if this course had any sprinklers on the fairways. I often found myself in the middle of the fairway hitting off a combination of burnt grass and dirt. Hey for $20 it's still the best place to play for the money.
Played many times and still enjoy
Though nothing special, its a nice place to play for the money. Definitely a good value. Tuesdays are dollar hotdogs and beer - cant go wrong there!
