Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

almost an island green Photo submitted by roadgolfer on 02/15/2013
good greens but hard panned fairways
as always red wolf provides very interesting layout which is for me, very challenging. The greens are in good shape although a few are slower than the others due to coarser grass. The fairways really need immediate attention otherwise it will be in such irreparable damage that would take years to recover. I drove 305 yards because it rolled like it were on the cart path. Then I have to pick my ball up and lay it on some skimpy thin grass rather than scratch my club on the hard pan. If the fairways are as good as beacon lakes it would have been perfect. Im still giving it a 4 stars because it like challenge of the waters, nice big bunkers with good sand, dog legs, trees, crosswinds. I just hope they dont let the fairways go.
Here's my unsolicited two cents, i suggest aerating the fairways after the next big rain.
in good shape
course has improved greatly in the last six months.
The Greens are in fantastic shape.. Best I have seen in years.
I very much like the course it is challenging and a great value. The greens are in great shape. I would like to see more work on improving the fairways with better turf coverage and less bare or thin lies when in the fairway.
Course in great shape
First time playing the course, a lot of great holes. Took some real challenging shot especially with the water hazards. Definitely play again.
Great Condition
Greens were in good shape and there was a fast pace of play
great greens
for the price you can't beat their greens. were sanded and aerated 3 weeks ago and are in fantastic shape. bare areas in some rough areas but overall course is in good condition.
Great value
Course is well maintained, fairways & greens in very good condition, and the course has some challenging holes. Excellent value.
The course was in good shape
The greens were good and the pace of play was good. The fairway were thin on grass.
Course in great shape
Red Wolf greens were prestine; best greens I've seen in a while. Fairways were manicured and bunkers had good sand. Great value through GolfNow. I'll play it again soon.
Nice course, close to home
We arrived at 8:30 on a Wednesday morning. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We hit a few range balls on a well maintained range and got started on time. The great thing about this course is it is not overly crowded on a weekday morning and the price for the round could hardly be beat. $20 per person, including cart. The fairways needed a little watering and TLC, but the greens were really coming in for the summer and were very fast. We never felt rushed and never caught up to another group throughout our play. The concession had just the right"ballpark" type foods and beer, but nothing fancier. Overall, a great value and a nice place to spend a few hours chasing a ball.
Still great after al these years
I first played this course back in the mid-70's when it was called Lockshire. The same issues that were apparent then are still apparent now and to me are just a part of the course. I like the changes that have been made on some of the holes including the addition of water on 16 as well as creating some waste areas along a couple of the fairways. The sand is totally different now with the soft white sand in the bunkers than the course sand that was originally there.
I like Riviere's courses and this is one of my favorite. Challenging from the white tees and all you could want from the blue tees. The greens were in good shape and still roll true but are not quite as fast as they could be. There has always been hard pan off the fairways and it is still there but shame on you for missing the fairway. The same places they have always had problems growing grass are still there and it is again, just a part of the course
As long as I can get somebody to drive me out there I will continue to play this course.
The layout is good
Greens were in good shape, moderate speed. Fairways were tightly mown (too short for spring conditions), many areas of the fairways and rough need attention. Growing season is starting, conditions should improve with work. Good value, good layout, challenging par 3's.
The greens are in good shape and the price to play is very fair.
I play this course a couple times a year. I love the course layout and the greens are in way better shape than in the past. The tee boxes and fairways were in about the same shape as in the past "Need a little work". That being said, it's a fun course to play and a great value.
The greens are in great shape
Enjoyed playing my round. The greens are challenging and the layout is good. There are a few holes where you must carry over water. The fairways were not that great..hard surface yet playable.
Work was being done to address this issue..The holes are spaced out well..didn't have to worry about errant shots, except for
hole 10 with 18. The greens are great..not flat and boring..but have ridges, length, and speed. Will be playing this course again. I gave this course a three star rating based on the fairway surface conditions in some areas..Need rain.
Greens were excellent!
Red Wolfe greens are in great shape. Of course, Spring is a good time before the heat sets in here in TX. Speed of play was fast - played late in the day - Fairways need some help. Value was excellent for our green fees. And the Club Pro and staff were very accommodating after having worked a Scramble tournament just before we got on.
Great little community course. Great for the average golfer.
Great little community course. Best keep secret for a long time. Enjoyable for the high to mid handicap player. Can also be challenging for the low hadicapper from ther tips.
Good Value
Fast tough greens. Fairways were in decent shape considering the recent dry spell.
Fairways Help!
Greens are in great shape fairways need lots of TLC. If you play winter rules and lift clean and place conditions are tolerable.
Will play again for price. Course is very picturesque.
