Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

If you’re thinking about playing here, don’t. Not bad but not good
This golf course definitely has potential. I say this because it has the same nice layout as the golf course in Crosby, TX. Stonebridge at Newport which is 20 minutes south of this one. This golf course was like the musty version of that golf course in Crosby. The staff is very friendly and sweet, there is even a lovable dog at the course who’s collar reads “Not lost, I love golf.” The course itself is not well maintained. The greens are black with baby crabgrass growing everywhere. The water is so green. The bridges are so uneven you gotta be careful going over them. I wouldn’t recommend it to play, not even just for practice. Especially for the price. I think it should be more like $18 per person. The range seems ok so I think they could have a decent rate for buckets. It’s not ugly. It’s ok. Just those things are not appealing, the greens, the bridges, the water and if you care, the tee boxes.
Lots of Potential
Course condition is rough. Driving range/practice area is fantastic,... and rarely (if ever) crowded.
Layout is great with holes winding their way through Pine forest.
Looks like there is plenty of effort being put into maintaining conditions but there are far too few staff to get it done.
Suggestion; Hire additional qualified course maintenance personnel and have them focus efforts on greens and tee boxes.
Purchased Tee Times twice this week and both times I did not play golf. There was no Starter and a mile long line of carts at the 1st tee box, and no carts available for use, with people waiting to get a cart. I have played this course many times with no issues, but I will never book a tee time duirng a holiday week again.
One and done
The only reason I gave this course a three stars was because it's 18 holes and the greens were okay other than that the bathroom was the worst Golf Course bathroom I've ever seen and I've played over 200 courses not really sure what was going on with the greens but the front and the back were completely different speed please forgive the grammar I use voice to text all the time
Thanksgiving golf at this course...
I know that Pre-Thanksgiving Day golf is always crowded at the course, that's to be expected. But that being said, have a starter or marshal at the first tee pairing people up, verifying tee times and then have a marshal drive the course to push the annual hackers who come out this one day and hold up everyone else behind them! 6 hour round sucks b/c they want to play on busiest day of the year and no one is monitoring the pace of play!
Nice course, good condition
I play here once a week & the course is in good condition. Could the greens & tee boxes be improved? Yes. Would it be a good idea to water the course before play begins early mornings? Of course! Carts are in good shape & the course is fun to play.
Not appropriately priced for it's condition.
Played here for the first time this weekend and was not impressed. It is not a "bad" course by any means, but I did not feel like the posted rates adequately represented it's condition. It had not rained for a few days, but the fairways were shaggy, uneven and laden with crab grass and ant beds. The rough as well as the fringes around some of the greens and bunkers was thick bladed grass akin to St. Augustine, filled with weeds. The greens were slow to the point of being unpredictable. The bunkers were filled with debris and many of them had sprigs of grass growing up through them. One thing I did like about this course was the layout. There were many fun and challenging holes that featured sharp dog legs, elevation changes, strategically placed water features, fairways and approaches tightened by trees, as well as a handful of risk/reward blind approaches. This course is a shot maker's dream. I honestly feel like it is an okay-ish course that could be great if better maintained, or just adequately priced.
Terrible day
I’ve played this course numerous times over the years and have seen it in all types of conditions. So, after several years I thought I would give the course another opportunity. What a waste of $, even at $26.
The tee boxes were horrible on many of the holes, bare spots in many areas in the fairways. Don’t get me started with the greens. I don’t know who thought it would be a good idea to saturate them before morning play. Putting through puddles it seemed like until they dried out.
The worst part of the day was playing behind a group of 5. Who were terrible. No course etiquette. Round ended up lasting 4.5 hours, way too long for this course. No marshal.
Solid
Very solid choice for the price and usually open availability. Greens are solid for the most part, roll very slow though. Fairways are hit or miss, some bad spots some gray spots. Houses don’t really play a factor, back 9 has no houses for most part. All in all, solid course for the price. Nothing special
