Red Wolf Golf Resort
About
There's no doubt Red Wolf Golf Resort is a Texas-themed facility, complete with holes named after the Harrington's bulls (they are providers of bulls for professional rodeos) and a Southwestern-styled clubhouse. As for the golf course, Jay Riviere's design has always been considered a fine layout. Take advantage of the easier front nine by scoring well on the opening holes. No. 9 is the most difficult hole on the course. It shoots through a narrow opening uphill into the sloped fairway. This one is mean -- it was formerly a par 5 -- and requires a long approach over a lake.

Doesn’t look bad in the picture but it is. Luckily there’s been a lot of rain. Give it a couple of weeks in this heat it will all be brown. Photo submitted by u480307563 on 08/06/2024

Too Wet- Splinker Timers?
We enjoyed the course layout, tee boxes looked good, drink cart girl was attentive, Marshal was friendly & visible, pace was great, greens' grass condition was nice, & the fairways were mowed just right, but everything was Too Wet from late morning sprinklers. We splashed through TOO many areas that had just been soaked from the sprinkler system. Maybe this should have been completed, prior to anyone starting their game, using timers or a 2am water person. It would have been 5 stars if not for the soupy conditions, not caused by rain. For paying the highest fees of the 3 courses east of Lake Houston, it would be nice to have played in drier conditions.
Pleasantly average
Friendly staff with greens and bunkers that were in nice condition were the highlights of the round. The golf course itself is unremarkable but fun. Most holes are of the garden variety; straight forward and not very unique. There are a few good holes of note, however. 3 is a testy 1-shot hole with water hard up against the apron of a very narrow green. 9 is a beast of a par 4 that is narrow, long (499 yards), and with water guarding the green. The back nine is stronger than the front with 11,12, and 16-18 being pretty strong holes that stand out from the rest.
greens in nice shape
played after a rain ,lots of bugs and tall grass but great course
No bar or restaurant!
Course was in nice shape. Greens almost fully recovered from on aeration.
Mosquitoes were everywhere! Terrible! They gotta spray or something!
Unprofessional starter
The starter sucks. I didn’t even play. Racist atmosphere. I had to leave because I couldn’t stand them. Got my refund and left.
Nice challenging Layout
I had not played here in over 20 years. It was nice to
come out again. well worth my drive from NW Houston. I will revisit in the near future.
The course is lots of fun, good condition. What I’ve enjoyed most in the few rounds I have played is the friendly staff. I will continue to recommend others to play Red Wolf as well.
Great Value
The course was in good shape. Greens were good and most fairways were in very good shape … a few still need a bit of work; but, not bad. Overall, this was a very good experience. This is one of the best values in the Houston area!
Still rebuilding
The course:
The course really needed water along the fairway. It appears that they recently aerated and the ground was very hard and dry. The greens had just been watered earlier that morning and they were in great shape. Bunkers needed serious attention.
The staff:
Pro shop was still needing a lot of improvements they had absolutely no merchandise. The clubhouse was still not having food or drinks available to patrons. They had a cart girl and we only saw her 1 time during the 4 hrs we played. It was in the mid 90s and we figured that they would have more available during the weekend for players. Next time I will bring my own cooler.
What Hole is this
Pace of play was good, however there were no Hole markers to vertify what Hole we were playing and distances.
I play here all the time, and never noticed, however, they are not needed due to the great routing, with one hole leading to another. This is unlike most courses. It would be nice to have par and yardage markers, but I just look at card.
Good Value Course
Played this course for over 20+ years. Great track, great value, friendly staff. Still recovering from flood waters. Shape of course lackluster, fairways are thin, greens were punched and need a couple of more weeks. Grill a month away. I will continue to play it.
Best value in the Atascocita/Huffman area
The course is recovering nicely from the flood. The maintenance crew is working diligently to get the problems corrected.
No grass
Course needs improvement. No grass around greens or in the fairways. Sand traps need to be completely redone. Not worth the $20 to play in this condition.

I tried to email the course, the email on their website is invalid.
It's been awhile since we played, but I figured you all needed this feedback.
We played August 31st ,1152 tee time. Just two of us. On the 5th hole our cart started acting up. We called the clubhouse to get it replaced. We proceeded to play 3 more holes, sometimes pushing the cart, sometimes moving at a snails pace in the cart. On the 8th hole we gave up and walked the rest of the way to the clubhouse. Halfway up the 9th fairway, the kid from the clubhouse finally showed up and offered us a cart. We declined, walked to our car and left.
I understand that vehicles break down, but taking an hour for someone from the clubhouse to pick us up was unacceptable. It was close to 100 degrees outside, and my brother in law was in town for the day to play golf, so he was legitimately upset.
We would appreciate a quicker response from the staff, and genuine concern for the customer. I dont need to tell you how this should have been handled; I'm sure you know many solutions to ensure guests return. I have played there several times, but not since this incident, as it was the first time I've had a bad experience at your course.
