Great potential. Awesome layout
This is the first time I have played this course since it was previously called Highland Lakes Golf Course. Now sold and renamed multiple times, the current owner is trying to bring the course back to life. It currently is a little rough around the edges. I drove my own golf cart to the course, as I live nearby, but was surprised to see a fleet of well kept Club Car Tempos waiting at the maintenance shed. The road down to check in is very rough and riddled with pot holes. The shed also acts as the starting point to the round. Like I said, a little rough when you first see it, but well worth the experience. The course is currently only operating on 9 holes. You start on #2 and end on #1. The layout, elevation changes, and views of the lake really are spectacular here. The tee boxes weren't in the greatest shape. Some just needed a bit of cutting. Some better than others. The fairways were pretty decent all things considered. The greens do need some help but they are trying there best with all these freezes and then hot summers with no rain. There were actually mow lines on the greens when we played. The #9 hole is the roughest green here. I play the city owned Lago Vista Golf Course down the road about every other week or so. The greens at this Lake Travis Country Club seem like PGA quality when compared to some at the city course. I understand the negative reviews here but it's all about expectations. This place is basically a two man show, charging less than the price of a bucket of range balls anywhere else to play 9 holes. The low traffic, fun layout, and positive manner in which I was treated will have me playing this course more than the other Lago course. I just hope they can hang on and keep this little gem operational.
Them Browns
Although I called and was warned the “greens” were bumpy, the pitch was in no way puttable. They were Brown. Tons of overgrowth, lost 3x the amount of balls as normal and the course is covered with deer droppings. Holes 4-6 smelled like a zoo. The road to access the course show how much the city cares about golf.
Corse should be closed or sold.
Should not be on the golf app for booking
The course is not the original Lake Travis Country Club course. The greens were in terrible condition. They were brown and worse than a cattle pasture. Picked up the golf cart from the maintenance barn. It did not have running water for the bathroom facilities. The only two positive ratings I could give was Art who volunteers out at the course and he was very honest of what to expect from the course and the pace of play. The only other players on the course were the disc golf (frisbee) players. Not a serious 9 hole golf course.
Beautiful scenery and good neighbors
Still under construction but enjoyed nice shots with good neighbors... i anticipates a beautiful course with whole remodeling in coming fall.
Have to repair some. Hole of green.
Otherwise, course was OK.
Absolute GARBAGE
This is not a golf course. It is an unknown field without personality.
Please do not book this horror show
With the recent rain the fairways are in great shape and they are mowing on a regular basis. The greens are coming around. You can play a round in under 3 hours. The scenery is outstanding with views of lake Travis on many of the holes. You’ll encounter deer the entire round. Take the drive to Lago Vista and renjoy a relaxing day playing golf

Plenty of Potential with Incredible Views!
This course is going through a rework and has a lot of potential, it has fantastic views, the course has a great variety of some quite challenging holes and then some holes that keep you inspired to keep coming back to the sport that we love.
The greens were being reseeded, so they weren't in great condition - but the work is clearly underway to get this course beautified.
The staff were amazing, super friendly and made the check in process easy and quick. The carts was in great condition too.
I will definitely be coming back to play again, and as this course continues to improve, my golf will follow suit.

Work in progress
We played this course about a year ago, it was in ruff condition. The owner(s) have been reworking the course and it is greatly improved, much better than we expected. There is lots more work to be done on this course, but we will be back. This course has great elevation changes, makes it challenging.

Course needs a ton of work
Tee boxes were in awful condition. Fairways were fine. 4 of 18 greens had green grass. There was no sand in the sand boxes, tee boxes were extremely uneven. I don’t know who’s running the show their but they should be fired
Thank you for reviewing the course. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve, and we are working towards getting things up to par. Thank you for playing Lake Travis Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.

Deplorable conditions
Course condition is deplorable. Hardly any grass in the fairways, and the greens are a mixed bag of grassless and partly covered. Clearly course is not being maintained to any reasonable degree. I was a member back in mid-80s and course was much better, as was the clubhouse. Now greens are unputtable and fairways are basically dirt. Only plus is that many sand traps have been taken over by grass, either by intent or just lack of attention. Barely even worth the $25 total green fee per person, especially considering the very long drive from Austin.

Great potential
The course is in bad shape, but i knew that before hand. I had a great time making the best of it. The lay out is fantastic. Some really fun holes with great views. Give it some time and we'll see how it progresses. The club house which is unaffiliated is first class. We had a great day. Thanks.

Formerly a Good Course - no greens
Road to get golf cart and pay is a potholed nightmare.
The greens are mostly not there - just black patches of over seeded land.
Sand traps are over grown with grass.
The course should not cost as much as it does to play. Blackhawk is in better shape and can be found much cheaper than Lake Travis. This course has a long way to go to regain even a modicum of the glory it held when it was known as Highlands.
The people who worked there were very nice.

Greens need lots of work
I can tell new owners are trying, but still need lots of work. Weird setup not at the main building, they have to do something better than driving down to the maintenance shed.
