Sawmill Creek Golf & Racquet Club
About
Sawmill Creek Golf Resort & Spa sits along the banks of Lake Huron with Sarnia to the East and London just 45 minutes west. The course has a links-style layout that stretches to 6,782 yards from the back tees. Designed by Rene Muylaert, the creation of the golf course required over a million tons of earth to be moved to the site. It was then molded and shaped into rolling terrain that offers a tough but fair test. The namesake creek comes into play on 13 holes and there are also several strategically placed bunkers that lurk beside the greens. There are some tricky holes but it's not overly punishing to the high handicapper. In addition to the golf course, Sawmill Creek also has a driving range available for warming up.

Always looking forward to Sawmill
Very scenic course and the greens are very consistant. I usually score well here because it's pretty flat, but there are little water holes that will come up and snag you if you're too crooked.
Still very nice
In spite of the inches of rain the night before forcing cart paths only, many of the bunkers containing water, the greens were great and the course was in nice shape! The staff was out working to get the traps back into shape and because of all the rain, had a lot of work in front of them.
In spite of mother nature, Sawmill Creek is always a treat to play, a fair, yet challenging golf course.
Sawmill Creek offer great grounds and rounds
The day we played Sawmill Creek was a bit cloudy and it poured at the 1st tee box. We decided to make a stop for a bite to eat to clear the delay in play ahead of us. Don't let the condition of the facilities fool you, the hot dog was surprisingly fantastic! (Some sort of brioche bun.) It was just enough delay for the rain to stop and the sun to come out to enjoy a great round. The greens fees seemed a bit high for the area but the grounds are evidence of a great value. The Fazio design was reminiscent of Turtle Bay in Hawaii and we will play again!
Great layout
The course is set up for every range of player. The greens are big with a lot of slope. The 5 pars are quite the challenge, with trouble on both sides of the fairway. The 3 pars are interesting, two have a carry over a water hazard and another is up hill, over a creek and railroad ties. Sawmill Creek is a must play for every golfer.
Outstanding Par Threes
In addition to a very well-maintained course, Sawmill provides what are, in my opinion, the best set of par threes of any course that I have ever played. All are reachable, and all are challenging. Throw in the beauty of these four holes and you have a wonderful experience in par 3 golf holes. The remainder of the course is challenging but fair and features large well-groomed and frequently very fast greens. Personnel also reflect the quality of the experience at Sawmill.
Top-shelf experience. Give it a try!
sawmill creek huron,ohio
greens nice.
fairways average.
some challenging holes
lots of bunkers in fairway and guarding greens.
overall fun course to play not a 85.00 course.we played through golf now for 34.00
Pace of Play
We played the front 9 in three hours and walked off the course because no one has the time to play a 6 hour round of golf. No one was making sure pace of play was kept up and at a certain point we had enough.
Best Golf Course in the Area
Sawmill Creek is a must play if you're in the area. Golf Director Ryan Spicer runs a 1st Class operation. I was on vacation and signed up a single. I was paired with another 2some and another single player. The course is very well designed and will challenge all level of golfers - you will use every club in your bag. The greens are fast but hold well and are open in front except for 2 par 3's which have a forced carry. The fairways are generous, the rough has trees but is very well maintained so finding your ball is never a problem.
The pace of play was good, condition of the course excellent and the Golf Course Staff made it a very enjjoyable round of golf.
Great experience
Beautiful and challenging course that was time well spent. The par threes are very intimidating. Cannot wait to play again. Got discount through GOLFNOW which made cost more reasonable. Regular rate a bit too high.
perfect fairways and great greens
good test of golf . plenty of room to play.
rough is not too bad.
You must get a deal!
First, the only way you should play this course is with a discount. It is worth about $25-30. Having said that for my $25 it was a great experience. Even though the fairways were a little wet (cartpaths only) from rains that morning, they were perfect and lush. The layout was very good also, although if you are used to "resort courses" in Fla or the Carolinas you will not be impressed with Sawmill Creek. My understanding is they are spending money to upgrade the clubhouse which is sorely needed.
Sawmill
Came to the area with our kids for Cedar Point. Decided to play Sawmill while in town. Nice course, good shape, fair to all level of players. Pretty flat course, definitely can score well here even if you spray it a bit. Wouldn't pay the posted rate at Sawmill but we got a deal on Golf Now so it was worth it..
Awesome!
Excellent course, dense rough and fairway, fair design, calm and brand new carts. Overall : excellent!
great track
I love playing this course.... it is a bit expensive if paying full price so I keep my eye open for a deal...... but play it every chance I get.
Great Course
Great course excellent shape .Found some great deals on the internet. Pricey at full price. love this course will go back every chance I get and drove 45 minutes to get there.
Ho Hum.....over rated.
Shadow of it's former self.
An average golf experience.
Great day of golf
Weather was perfect, mid 70s. Course was nice. Tee boxes were in good shape and greens were excellent. Best hotdog I've had in a long time.
Started fast then very slow play
Pin placements were difficult which made play pretty slow for a weekend. Played the first 6 holes in about an hour then backed up the rest of the way. Course was in great condition though.
Underwhelming
Second time playing this course in eight years and I remember now why I haven't been back since. Every hole at Sawmill is basically the same. No natural undulation and little is done to capture your attention. The green are actually in good shape, but very difficult to read. It is unbelievable that someone would willingly pay over 30 bucks to play this course.
