Prime location - Terrible course maintenance
I was greeted over the phone by a sarcastic jerk that seemed to enjoy being that way while making a tee time overly complicated. Knowing what a character I was walking into to checkin, I said very little to not take longer than necessary. We were set on our way by the course starter who was very friendly and helpful directing us to the driving range. We returned and started our 9-hole round. The course itself was in very bad shape off of the fairways due to poor grass cutting and a major clover infestation. The grass that was cut was clumped up in many areas. The clover was so bad with white tops that it made looking for your golf ball extremely difficult. The starter again was friendly and helpful as we changed to another of their 9-hole courses thinking it would be more playable. Again, disappointed with the poor maintenance and asked for a refund. The refund was granted as the manager stated having “issues being a municipal course with timely maintenance and pricing that reflects that”. This was my second and last time with maintenance issues highlighting the first visit as well. I will not return. What a shame as the course is in a prime location with tons of potential.
Good Muni Option with 27 Holes
Good muni option with 3-9s / 27 holes. I liked the Woods 9 since it challenged to keep the driver long and straight and felt like a walk in nature for sure. I would play here again when in the Williamsburg area.
It's a muni.
If you accept the fact that it's a cheap municipal course it's not so bad. Has some rough spots and the greens are pretty hit or miss. But it's cheap and easy to walk. Obviously there are better courses in the area but for what it is it's not bad. I'll continue to go back when I'm a single and just want to walk 9 holes for practice. The Links course is a terrible layout but again it's a cheap muni. Keep your expectations in check and it's not so bad.
The Lakes are a challenging 9
Great little challenging course. When paired with the woods it makes for a nice 18 holes. A lot of water and good amount of forced carries. If you want a challenge play the blues, the par 3's have a 200 yard carry from the blues. It is a fun little municipal course. Staff is friendly and the food is pretty good and fairly priced. I recommend it. They have been keeping up the driving range and practice areas up better recently and overall it is cool to have 3 very different nine hole courses in one place!
