The Hollows Golf Club - Lake/Road

Great course for the price! Nice open fairways and found a ton of balls!

Overall, the course was in good shape and was a fair value for the green / cart fee. That said, the layout of the course leaves a bit to be desired. On at least one of the holes, it was difficult to determine where the flag was for the hole we were playing. That is because there were two greens adjacent to o0ne another and the fairways connected in front of the greens!

The Hollows are always mid tier expensive. I normally see them from $60-$90. I caught a break and got it for $47 On a Sunday. To their credit, they are an older course so I wasn't expecting for it to be super modern Some older courses have good charm, which makes a decent playing experience. The tea boxes were OK at best. I found certain holes had very hard dirt making it difficult to push your tee down properly. I counted six holes with that problem. The fairways were just fine And they were really fast, which I don't see a lot of in Virginia. The biggest problem are the greens Which were very unkept. Even after long season Green shouldn't look like that. Dogwood trace is a public course and their greens are almost always immaculate for $20-$30 less in price. Overall, I thought it was a ok course. If I caught a deal, I'd play it again so I can try to play the Lake 9. The staff was nice And I must say the hotdog was excellent. I wish I would've got two

The price was great for 9 holes w a cart. Easy to get a tee time. Played Cottage course and in terrible condition. No grass all weeds. 4 out of 9 greens were decent. Course has good signage to get you from hole to hole.

The Cottage course was very dry, no grass only weeds. Carts paths you need 4 wheeler not golf cart. Pace of play was very good. Some greens were very nice and others in poor condition.

Really fun course, my wish is the GolfNow would mark if greens have been aerated. Of the 3 9’s two were aerated with one nine done the beginning of last week.

This is a course that is easy to score well, but will get you if you take it for granted. Love playing here to get ready for a tournament

The front 9 wasnt bad, but then we hit every known walker in the game, which means they teed off the same as the rest of us. Wish they wouldve staggered us through play. Meaning first 4 groups take cottage, next 4 take road... with the spread out of groups, you shouldnt overlap another one. This is the only day I have had an issue with pace and because of it i couldnt finish the round, my group and I left on hole 13.

I absolutely love this course. I play 1 to 2 times a week and this is the only course I play. Single players are welcome because you get paired up and other players are kind.

Club house is old and dingy, extremely outdated and dirty bathrooms. No cart girl on a day where their parking lot is 3/4 full. Bar service is slow. Cart path is filled with holes and water even when it hasn’t rained in almost a week. Would think there would be some sort of pavement, but no it’s just mud and rocks. Ground was extremely dry and hard in certain areas and terribly muddy and soggy in others. Had drives right in the middle of the fairway and my lie was a mound of dry dirt. Golf carts are on their last wind and stall out all the time too. Just not enjoyable. Booked through golf now where it states if you book 18 you are free to play all three 9 hole courses. Was confronted by the guy in pro shop and told that the wording “may have been misleading” and he had “never seen such a thing” and that I would need to pay for another nine if I wanted to play the last 9 hole course. DONT POST SOMETHING IN YOUR DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE AND ACT LIKE IM FREELOADING! DO BETTER BUSINESS AND ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR MISTAKE! There is also always some part of this course closed. This time it was the driving range, last time it was the last hole of the lake course. I would at the least say this place would be a cheap place to hit balls, but they don’t even have a driving range open. Overall terrible course, terrible management and won’t get my business again. Seems like they need it as the conditions are so awful and wanted me to pay for the last 9 holes that is clearly stated are included. Even says 27 holes in the description as well.

Played the Hollows for the first time 8/6/24. Liked the open layout of both the Cottage and Road courses. The fairways were a bit spotty with weeds and bare spots but not too bad. Greens were a bit beat up from players not repairing ball marks. The sand traps ( which I visited a lot) were very nice with fluffy sand, not the hard pan I have been used to. Very enjoyable round and a good value at $31 for 18 and cart. Went on line at golf pass.com- for the deal. Would return to play the next time I’m in the area. Highly Recommend.

I love playing here. Its my go to course. Greens are very well taken care of and not a whole lot of trees.
