About
South Riding Golf Club is nestled in the gentle hills of northern Virginia, enjoying a landscape of hardwood forests and grassy meadows. The course offers a variety of challenges but the fairways are wide and player-friendly and the greens can be tough in spots but overall they offer some room for error. The layout requires both strategy and skill, it is definitely not a golf course where you will be able to just "grip and rip it." The course pinpoints your weaknesses but it is still a fair test. South Riding Golf Club's eighth hole is memorable for its difficulty but it's an interesting hole sine there are many ways to play it. At 351 yards, the hole is a short but intimidating dogleg left that will tempt you to go over the trees. The fairway is generous but the saddle-shaped green is flanked with bunkers.

Shocking Experience
Course was in terrible condition, tee boxes-no grass, fairways-some grass, greens healing from aeration-most damages. How this course got a 4 STAR rating is shocking. Place shows its age-old, very little maintenance evident.
Paid a low rate but would not play again if it was free.
Very disappointing. Club house dated but snack bar food was good. Course needs serious attention and is poorly managed.
Not worth full price
Good layout, fairly wide fairways. Nice sand traps. Greens somewhat challenging. Tee areas are horrible. Fairways not in very good condition. Course does not drain well. Got a hot deal on Golf Now for $50. Would not pay any more than that to play this course.
Avoid Playing Here
Poorly maintained course; no tee indicators - can easily get lost from one tee to another. Practice tee closed until noon on a weekday REALLY?
course is so so
it is located in residence area. green is not smooth. pace of play is terrible. no marshall drives around to keep the pace.
Heat took its toll
The heat took its toll. Some of the tee boxes need a lot of help. Grass is burnt in areas. I think the heat took its toll because earlier in the year this place was in great shape.
course has deteriorated drastically
Tees were in shocking condition.
Fairways were very soft in places but mainly fine. Greens were good but uneven. I fixed loads of pitch marks on each green.
4 hours 45 min for a round. Waiting on every shot. No ranger in sight to move pace of play.
Played 4 years ago but won’t be going back for a while if ever.
Very good condition
It was good condition and well maintained greens. For the price, the course is one of the best in the northern VA area. The condition was much better than last year.
Good value
The course was in good shape. Pace of play was good for a Friday on a public course. It was a lot of fun, we’ll definitely play again. Great experience for the price.
Nice Round
Course was in good shape. pace was a little slow on the front but picked up on the back. have played the course a lot over the years and it's always a challenge.
Beware the rough
Tees, fairways and greens very good. My only criticism is that the rough was too long, and there’s a lot of it. So much, in fact I’m sure it’s a huge undertaking to keep it mowed.
South Riding
The course was in great shape and pace of play was not rushed. Really enjoyed the time spent. Club house staff were courteous and professional.
Mixed review
Look - the course is great. Best bunkers around and the greens are good but fast. My only complaint was that we booked the round and started at 9:30. Made the turn at 11:45 and all day the pace wasn’t bad - we only saw one group in front of us. At the turn - there were three groups on 10 and one group waiting. One or two people were walking. They also had a tournament at 1:00. So it was overbooked. We paid for 18 but had to leave because we couldn’t bear to wait 20 min at every hole. We did wait 20 min at the 10th to see and there was no way it was going to be less than 3 hours!!! So basically we lost half a round.
