#16 Par three.Auburn CG Photo submitted by PaulBader on 04/03/2013
Fun and challenging course.
The clubhouse workers are nice but the servers at the restaurant are pretty rude and always have attitude problems. Overall great course.
Auburn in Autumn
Got a good rate through GolfNow. Front nine is flat, most holes are tree lines and there is a lot of back and forth on the first six holes. After the par five tenth holes things get more interesting as you head up the hill and then work your way back down to the number 16 course signature hole. Water comes into play on the last two holes, expecially number 18 if the pin is on the left side. It was a cloudly day with a few showers the last five holes when I played. The greens looked like they were plugged a couple of weeks ago, but were every good I though. Shots to the green would hold and my ball rolled nicely on putts.
Slow as molasses
Don't bother unless you enjoy really slow pace. The course is nice enough but some of the staff can leave a bad taste in your mouth. It took 4 1/2 hours to play through 15 holes. Couldn't finish a 6 hour round is just ridiculous on a Monday afternoon. This was my third round with exceptionally long play and though I enjoy the course I won't be returning.
Scramble Fiasco
Booked the tee time for a friend and I only to find out they put us in the middle of a scramble tournament. So after a few holes we caught up the the scramble that was extremely slow, 8 people on a hole, posing for pictures etc. We decided to bag it after 8 holes, asked staff for refund which they wouldn't do. Gave us rain check for half of our green fees reluctantly.
Great course for the money
I've really enjoyed playing this course over the years. Well maintained, challenging and interesting. My only complaint is too many water hazards, give me a bunker every time.
Auburn Golf Course - 7/15/18
The course conditions were great. The pace of play was good, but not great. The group in front of us had some difficulties, and played slow.
The greens are fast, tricky. And I love to play (and hate to play) holes 9 and 18. Both are great holes, but difficult due to the water hazards.
Overall, a great day.
Auburn Golf course
Course was in great shape! Staff is very friendly.
I will play there again soon. Greens ran a little slow, but true.
Nice municipal course
Auburn has a well maintained course with decent challenge. Great greens and fairways better than most muni courses. There are a couple of “funky” holes, but overall a decent and scenic track.
The service in the restaurant post round could have been better, with staff that perhaps was actually happy to be working in the nice environment that it is. The beer was cold and the food was average, the atmosphere very nice, with plenty of TV to watch the current tournament or your favorite sporting event.
Better than I remember
Had a great time - weather was perfect. Deal offered by GolfNow was a super great value. Pace of play was pretty good. Just a little waiting but hardly much to mention.
Nice course!
This course is always fun and has its challenges. Well maintained!
Will Play Again
Great public course, but other reviewer’s concerns about pace of play are valid. Admittedly, it was beautiful weather and Father’s Day, but my tee time got pushed 30 minutes and the round took five hours.
Be ready for fast greens and a layout that will challenge golfers of all skill levels.
This course has a good layout
This was my second time playing the course and i was very impressed by the condition especially the greens.
The layout was very interesting as well.
Auburn Golf Course
The course was in great shape and the greens were fast!!!
Fairways
We lost 2 balls in the high grass of two fairways. On the front nine one fairway waa pluggwd and sanded so heavily we virtually could not play it. We were beytwr od playing the hole in the side rough
We weren't told of this condition.
Best course in the South end!
The Auburn Golf Course is not only the best course in the area, the greens will become known as the best in the region. It continues to improve week to week. The round today took 3 hours & 10 minutes. The tee time was early in the morning. Try it, you'll like it!!!
