#16 Par three.Auburn CG Photo submitted by PaulBader on 04/03/2013
Great condition.
Course overall was in great shape. The greens are mostly large and in excellent shape. Very pleased with everything.
Real slow day
The weather was great and the course was in good condition. We just had some guys that were beginners in front of the pack and it was over a five hour round. too long
Greens are surprisingly kept
Greens were in great condition, and the staff was great. Auburn should take it to the next level and weed out the degenerates in jean shorts and wife beaters! Fix some basic drainage issues, and require a dress code and Auburn would be at the next level. Surprisingly good condition and some fairly challenging holes on the back 9.
Good for a Muni
There's a little bit of back and forth on the front, but the back has lots of texture. Some challenging greens, too, but fair. I like that the trees are not prohibitive like so many old munis around Seattle.
Great round at Auburn GC.
Course in great shape- well watered and manicured. Pace of play was reasonable. We were called to the tee blocks 15 mins early, which a bit of a rush for a couple in our group. Putting and pitching areas in good condition also. Billy Baroos waitstaff did a good job tending to us after the round. Recommend this course!
Drunk guys and marshalls without balls (golf)
As soon as the 2 older ladies in front of us said the guys in front of them were extremely slow and drunk - we should have gone around the entire mess. The entire day was ruined because of a drunken 4-some and a golf staff that admitted they couldn't do anything to resolve the issue. 5+ hours later, after an argument in the clubhouse, I was at least given a 9 hole raincheck to help repair the damage that should not have been allowed to continue during the entire afternoon of what could have been a nice round of golf. The marshals should know that if they cannot control a situation - the local police department can be given the nod to help control patrons that were yelling and swearing and throwing their beer cans into the woods.
Greens are phenomenal
Auburn isn't a very long course but it has a challenging layout so you can't hit driver every single hole. After a very wet winter the ball is starting to roll again and it is good to see the course get back toward summer shape. The HUGE improvement this year is their greens. They started to roll their greens this year and it is a vast improvement. The greens are running fast but true. In years past, especially on the lower holes, they would get bumpy but not now. They still need to cut their bunkers and do some other spring improvements but a fun course to play.
Don't play in the Rain!
I made the mistake of playing at noon when it had been raining in the am. Very poor drainage the course was soaked to the point that it really shouldn't have been open. I lasted nine holes.
Had to chip over a puddle on one of the greens.
Pretty uneventful course.
Course is a swamp
Course was virtually unplayable due to muddy conditions. Sank up to my ankles on almost every fairway. Paid for 18; walked off after 9.
Great course
It's a great course that's not too hard but can be brutal if you aren't in the fairway. I've played this course numerous times throughout the year and its always in good shape no matter the weather. Yeah it gets muddy but still playable.
Typical Muni Course
Front nine was flat with only one one par five. Slow play with a coupl groups of guys in jeans playing loud music on the course. Marshal was prevalent but didn't seem to care about mentioning the constant distraction. Watch errant balls on the front as it's tight up and back. Back nine thinned out a bit had elevation and water. They clearly built up 16 as their photo op hole. Pictures don't really tell the story here. One good thing is that greens were well kept and challenging.
An old classic
Auburn has some really cool holes with a variety of design, uphill, downhill, water doglegs,, ect..(4,5,6,9,11,13,14,15 and their signature hole number 16) but it also has some bland holes mixed in,( 2,10,17). If the greens are in good condition and its dry, its really a good course that's fun and challenging. Its not a great winter course as seems to hold water. prices are very reasonable and the staff helpful
