Don't play in the Rain!
I made the mistake of playing at noon when it had been raining in the am. Very poor drainage the course was soaked to the point that it really shouldn't have been open. I lasted nine holes.
Had to chip over a puddle on one of the greens.
Pretty uneventful course.
Course is a swamp
Course was virtually unplayable due to muddy conditions. Sank up to my ankles on almost every fairway. Paid for 18; walked off after 9.
Great course
It's a great course that's not too hard but can be brutal if you aren't in the fairway. I've played this course numerous times throughout the year and its always in good shape no matter the weather. Yeah it gets muddy but still playable.
Typical Muni Course
Front nine was flat with only one one par five. Slow play with a coupl groups of guys in jeans playing loud music on the course. Marshal was prevalent but didn't seem to care about mentioning the constant distraction. Watch errant balls on the front as it's tight up and back. Back nine thinned out a bit had elevation and water. They clearly built up 16 as their photo op hole. Pictures don't really tell the story here. One good thing is that greens were well kept and challenging.
An old classic
Auburn has some really cool holes with a variety of design, uphill, downhill, water doglegs,, ect..(4,5,6,9,11,13,14,15 and their signature hole number 16) but it also has some bland holes mixed in,( 2,10,17). If the greens are in good condition and its dry, its really a good course that's fun and challenging. Its not a great winter course as seems to hold water. prices are very reasonable and the staff helpful
Great course
Nice place to get your game together. Little soggy due to the rain.
Cold Febuary golfing
I had a tee time at 11 51, but took my time so I could play with someone else. There was a foursome that was ten minutes behind me so I went by myself. I will say I had a blast. I took my time, and was trying a different grip , and really enjoying the beautiful crisp sunny day alone. The fairways, greens were kind of hard, but the course was in great shape. I love this course, and all the challenges it entails.
Great Value, Great Staff
It is December in Western Washington so you know things will be a little wet. Overall it was a great experience, the staff is fantastic, the restaurant afterwards had happy hour all day on Sundays with the football games playing. While you aren't going to get summertime roll in the fairways I always enjoy coming back.
Great greens.
The greens are in awesome shape except 8. But the fairways do not drain well at all. If you go there expect to lose your balls in the fairway.
Course in great shape!
I don't play this course much since they don't have a driving range for warm-up but had driven by a couple times and saw how good the course looked. I wasn't disappointed when I got out there. Played on a Saturday at 4:30 so expected a slow pace and playing as a single but it played faster than expected with a course Marshall making the rounds. Course conditions and facilities are excellent and I plan to play this course more often despite the lack of driving range.
Nice course, slow play
Course is in nice shape. Greens were toughest part of course, especially with pin placement the day I played. The Waterfall hole pin placement was probably the toughest, bordering ridiculous for a Par 3.
5-some in front of our group, with a 3 some walking in front of them. Not sure how they let that happen but it took over 5hrs on a Monday afternoon to play 18....
Will play again, hopefully find the right time to avoid waiting for 12 min at each tee box...
Course is updating irrigation.
Very nice course. Restaurant was not opened when we arrived for a 7 AM tee time.staff very pleasant.
Great course for the money and making many improvements each year.
Excellent course, not overly difficult and fun to play. Greens don't break as much as you'd think.
Thee Auburn Course... July 7th 2016...
13th Game of 2016 at Auburn
This was my first time playing thee Auburn Course and I'm glad that I did!
There was stunning scenery and a few totally signature quality holes to play. The putting greens were wonderfully difficult prepping me for a round of epic green reads-before-putts. I didn't get to test the chipping greens... perhaps next time I will. Now about the course to play....
I would 'highly reccomend' this course. Though it's a big 'pricey', it's a great course to play a round or two for sure.
It was not the best of weather to play a round, winds came with rain here and there, but we pulled it off before the bigger rains came.
The greens were in 'excellent' condition except for previous golfer's ball marks and cigar burns on the greens, and cigarette butts litered around the greens... please don't litter.
Please... fix ball marks and divots and please don't litter.
I repaired on average 3-5 ball marks per green.
So... on the course, there were many picturesque holes from the tees. The fringe around the greens needed to be trimmed with more care but were fairly consistent and the roughs were rough for sure. The fairways were in fantastic condition and if you kept the drive inside of the fairways, you'd have a great shot at reaching the greens in two consistently. Now to 'my round'...
I thought that I had a great shot when I was 159 yards away from the hole on a par 4. I was dead middle of the fairway (licking my chops thinking of the birdie attempt that I'd be having after I hit the ball with my 9 iron to the green.) I sized up the shot, took my swing (a perfect connect for a change) and as I we all watched, my ball sailed high (Jason Day had nothing on me for this shot) and directly at the pin (flag), my heart was pounding. It looked like a perfect shot... maybe in in two for the eagle. (The green was slightly elevated so we could not see on the green's surface but we knew the ball was heading directly for the flag). Apon arriving at the green we could not find mine. *Huh?* We looked in the cup too... nope no ball. But how was this possible? The shot was straight on?
One of the guys found it, it was 30 yards past the green to the back side. I hit my 9 iron 189 yards??? How did that happen?
So either I hit a 9 iorn 189 yards or a squirrel or a crow picked up my ball from the green and dropped it 30 yards behind it. That one will perplex us for years to come. Does anyone hit 9's 189 yards? I didn't hit it fat, I hit a picture of a shot, but 189 yards.... really?
My round resulted in...
An 82 (scratch) with a 40 front 9, and a 42 back 9.
16 par attempts with 7 pars made.
8 birdie attempts with 1 birdie made.
8 plus 1's (bogeys).
2 plus 2's (dreaded double bogeys yuk!)
11 over par total for my round. I had a fun time. This course was both fun and wonderful with the wind and rain... I imagine it great in better weather. I'll be playing this one again for sure!!!
Next course... we shall see...
Good luck and great golfing everyone!
Nick here and I'm out...
Nice Track
First 6 holes rather ordinary, but starting with #7 became more interesting and challenging: doglegs, elevation changes, risk/reward options & scenic enjoyment. Would play again.
Next time look closely. A 9 looks exactly like a 6 upside down!
