Eagles Pride Golf Course boasts a reputation as one of the best courses in western Washington. Located in the shadow of Mount Rainier, the course is less than 10 miles from both Lacey and Hawks Prairie as well as just a short drive from JBLM and DuPont. The 27-hole layout consists of three nines: Blue, Green, and Red; that are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Blue/Green Course begins with one of the original nines when the course first opened as Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940. The Green nine was added in 1979. The classic design of the front nine is slightly less challenging than the back, where you'll find plenty of trees and strategically placed bunkers. Water also comes into play on a few holes.

Previously known as Blue/Green at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

course making improvements for the better.

Noticed new tee box improvements on some holes.
When the greens are doubled rolled, putts run true.
Variety of holes cause one to use all clubs in the bag.
Play it forward or bring your '"A" game from the back tees.
fairways were in great shape ; could shave or clear more brush on the sides of fairway to improve playability and improve time for a round.
Greens were not really putting true on this day.
Nice practice area.
Unless a single it is best to make prior tee times.

Good Value, Beautiful Grounds

Fun and challenging lay out. Still a little soggy at mid-April. Greens weakest part of the course, and too many blind shots for my taste. Course knowledge a plus.

awesome course!

The only reason 4 stars instead of 5 was because the greens had been punched 2 weeks previous and weren't fully healed yet (almost). I would play this course anytime! The grooming was very good (for April). Staff was friendly and accommodating too! Could become my favorite course!

Best in the spring.

The course is playing their winter format. So if you are not aware if where to go you can get sidetracked. Better to ask the staff as they don't volunteer this information.
The course was a little muddy but in great shape for the amount of rain.
Better in the Spring because in the Summer you run into a lot of hard pan after it's dried out for awhile.

Fun course, right price.

Eagles pride couldn't be easier to find, the clubhouse/pro shop are very nice and new, and the facilities were in pretty good shape. They only run one 18 hole during the winter and 27 holes during the summer. The course has it's challenges and it inexpensive. Definitely worth the trip.

This is a long course

The course is very well put together especially considering they have 27 holes. I'm finally glad to see this course on golf now. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were very well manicured.

eagles pride

We started out the temp was 35 degrees. The fairways and even the greens were in really good shape; remembering this is the middle of the winter. The fairways were damp but very playable. The greens were mowed and had moderate speed. By the time with reached the 16th hole it started snowing. we had a great time.

Eagles Pride: It's Not Just For Military Golfers!

I am an old Army guy who has played at what used to be the Fort Lewis Golf Course, now named "Eagle's Pride GC", since first stationed here in 1980. A number of years ago the Army decided to open this course to the general public, and it was a good move. While a majority of golfers have a connection to the military, the added revenue has helped Eagle's Pride to remain very well-maintained.
This course can play either benignly or malevolently, depending on which tees you choose, the weather, or how much luck you've got going for you. Local Knowledge comes in handy here, as some of the holes feature lurking hazards which aren't readily apparent to the uninitiated. There are lots of trees strategically placed to impede your ball, and the rough is truly that in many places. If you play conservatively, you'll be rewarded by an average score, but "Go Big" and you may need to buy more balls at the turn!
Pace of play is usually fast, with the majority of golfers using electric carts. The course marshal is often a retired Command Sergeant Major combat veteran, so you do not want to ignore his guidance!
The practice facility is a bit of a hike from the parking lot, but you can drive there if you wish. The driving range is real grass; there are several practice putting greens, and a very nice chipping/pitching area.
Greens fees are very reasonable. The restaurant is decent, again with very reasonable prices.
