Eagles Pride Golf Course - Green/Red
About
Eagles Pride Golf Course has long been known as one of the best military courses in the country and luckily for golfers, it's open to the public. Originally opened in 1940, the course started as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course. Another nine was added in 1979 but it wasn’t until the mid-1990s that it became Eagles Pride. The three nines are called the Green, Red, and Blue, and they are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Green/Red Course starts with the newest and most challenging of the three nines. The course will test you with plenty of trees, water hazards, undulating slopes, and even the occasional blind shot. There are some tough holes but players of all skill levels could enjoy any of the nines.
Previously known as Green/Red at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Trees, water and terrain
Tree lined fairways with a number of challenging holes make this course a little harder when you play it for the first time. Local knowledge really helps with knowing where to hit a drive to set up a second shot. A couple of doglegs are particularly difficult if you hit down the wrong side of the fairway. Our only complaint was a crabby and silly course marshall who blustered to us about pace of play. We waited 5-7 minutes on each tee and were not able to move faster yet he acted like we waited too long to tee off. He was the only unpleasant thing we experienced that day.
The walkers in front us we're painfully slow . But otherwise a great day on the course
Fantastic
Course was in awesome shape with awesome weather. Greens were fast but can be faster. Only hiccup was kind of slow in the front so we jumped to the Green course on the back and flew right through. Playing partner putted right off the green on a couple of holes. Fun fun fun!
Can't beat layout and value
Other than the pace of play, every thing else was great. The new restaurant tastes great as well.
Eagle pride
It was a nice course, but hard to see with sun in eyes also it is a very narrow course also very lengthy. Strongly recommend getting a cart. I feel price of course including cart. Was a little on the high side. Especially for the conduct of the staff. They were very slow getting us out to course and other members there were rude in my opinion. For it being first time there in quite some time and my playing mate that’s never been there. They treated us as if we never played s round of golf before. And at one point my friend was told by the Marshall on the coursehe could not use his phone while playing there. Even know the call he received was very important. Also we’re rushed by other golfers hitting into us as we played. A lot to be desired there by members and staff in form of hospitality and golf etiquette!!!! Would like to go back cause it was a very challenging course. It only if they drop price and I hear staff is better mannered!
Decent round
Decent round of golf it's a nice enjoyable Saturday unfortunately got paired with two slow guys so it took 5 hours to play a round so pace-of-play was slow.
Great challenge at a great price
This course is more difficult than its rating. The trees lining the fairway make straight drives a must. There are tiered greens that make putting a challenge. There is a dogleg left hole that requires a 250 yard drive to turn the corner to make par and a 590 yard par 5. All this at a bargain price.
New Changes to Course are Terrific
This is the first time I have played Eagles Pride since they made changes to the Blue Course. What an upgrade to the course. The new par three is within distance of my clubs and my wife's. The sand bunkers were perfect. The next hole was well laid out as well. This definitely speeds up play. And finally, on hole 17, the course management finally cut down those pesky trees sitting on the corner which always prevented me from aiming for the green. The course has spent some real cash for great improvements.
Master Chief Approved
I was a little critical a couple years ago while reviewing this course as there was some issues. I have played a couple times here since the beginning of the year and compared to two years ago, much improved. The greens were punched a couple week back but have healed very well. Having three 9 holes allows them to stagger and keep the course open. The rain held off to allow myself and another gentleman to walk the Red and Blue in just under 3 1/2 hours. The Sam Adams Brewhouse is now open. Excellent food and beverages.
Good condition
Wish the blue course was available, but good outing
Eagles Pride on winter course
The course is under some construction and the layout has been changed temporarily. I was a little confusing at for the first few holes but got better on the back nine. Over all it was a good day. Some of the fairways had some slightly tall grass, others were mowed to perfection. As always, fees were excellent.
In the covered cart was nice and warm. Enjoyed!
Another round with good friends
Couse was in good condition. Can't wait till the weather gets drier so all three courses will fully open for play. But the course is still nice to play.
