Eagles Pride Golf Course - Green/Red
About
Eagles Pride Golf Course has long been known as one of the best military courses in the country and luckily for golfers, it's open to the public. Originally opened in 1940, the course started as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course. Another nine was added in 1979 but it wasn’t until the mid-1990s that it became Eagles Pride. The three nines are called the Green, Red, and Blue, and they are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Green/Red Course starts with the newest and most challenging of the three nines. The course will test you with plenty of trees, water hazards, undulating slopes, and even the occasional blind shot. There are some tough holes but players of all skill levels could enjoy any of the nines.
Previously known as Green/Red at Fort Lewis Golf Course.

Tough course
Nice fast greens. Unfortunately, the blue 9 won't be open until July. I realize there should be a penalty for missing a fairway, but on green course #6, the rough was almost up to my knees. That will really slow down play while players search for their errant shot.
Great course
We played on Sunday morning. The front nine was a bit crowded but pace of play was good. We only waited on 2 holes. The back nine was wide open as a number of golfers in front of us only played 9 holes.
Course is long and narrow, with beautiful old growth trees making it a challenging course. Restaurant is being re-modeled but will not re-open until fall we were told making food and drink selections very minimal in the pro shop.
We can trim the elephant grass
elephant grass it's by far the worse I have seen on a golf course we accidentally hit it in there to drop the ball because you'll never find 18 inch high elephant kind of disappoints the play
Great Course
Course was, and is always great. Very well kept. The staff, on the other hand, is not. Every time we visit this course the staff at the desk is usually rude. Very short, never a smile, and all around unfriendly. The course marshal that drives around is always in a good mood.
Be sure to keep your receipt from checking in as you'll need it to tee off.
They're in the process of building a Samuel Adams Brew House which will be great.
If it weren't for the attitude of the staff I would rate this course 5-stars.
Great layout, fun and challenging
A great experience in a beautiful setting. Fairways, tee boxes and greens in great shape. Snack bar still closed for drinks and eats so not able to hang out afterwards.
Pace of play
I really enjoy this course, however if the Marshal isn't going to enforce keeping pace then what is the point? Three hours for nine holes is outrageous!
The driest course I've played this year
The course was in very nice shape. Drier than any other Seattle area course I've played this year. Greens were firm and fast.
Great experience
The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcomed. The course was in excellent shape, even with all the rain lately. One of my favorite courses. I will be back. This may be unfair, but I gave off course amenities a 2 star rating, because they are remodeling their restaurant and it wasn't open yet. Everything else 5 star.
Course layout
Over the last few years, the condition of the course has improved dramatically , especially fairways and greens
Enjoyable course. Caution pace of play.
Red/green course. Blue closed until summer.
Enjoyable course, fair, accessible and scorable.
Not super long.
Green rolling true,
Some long walks between tee boxes. Cart preferable
Grounds crew doing excellent job in cleaning up after storms
Pace of Play possible issue. Older, regulars, military 4some group ignored our twosome on 3 tee boxes and drove away when approached to ask to play thru. We picked up our balls and skipped a hole to pass them. There were No other groups within 3 holes. I believe they genuinely didn't care that we we waiting on every box
Otherwise, enjoyable course
Good value
The course is in shape for May. Greens had been plugged but are growing back nicely. Played 18 right at 4 hours. Will be back.
Golf Now
Using the golf now ap I was able to play this course for 10 dollars with a cart. The courses pace of play was great and the course is easy to find. Tee boxes were not accurate but course was a good test.
Great and Affordable
Been in the Seattle area for just over a year and I've played most of the semi-private and public courses south of the city. This was a real find (first time playing the course), extremely affordable $22 walking-not bad for a Saturday morning in Seattle area, and I was very impressed how well maintained the course was given the amount of rain the past few weeks. First, the lady in the clubhouse was very pleasant, the starter was very nice and believe it or not, there were rangers driving around to ensure pace of play. Second, while the round took longer that I had expected - started at 10:30 finished around 3:15, it wasn't really due to slow pace of play. The course was very challenging, especially walking. Lots of hills so it made for a really stern walk. Finally, the course condition was impressive given the rains during the week. In fact, I played Wash National on Sunday afternoon and Eagle P. was much drier and the greens were already rolling true. Impressed!!! and will return.
Plays very long when wet
Had rained several for several days prior to playing. Also light showers during round resulted in standing water in spots. But it's a great course when it is dry!
