Eagles Pride Golf Course - Red/Blue
About
Located just 20 minutes south of Tacoma, Eagles Pride Golf Course in Fort Lewis is one of the area's best golfing values. Originally opened as the 18-hole Fort Lewis Golf Course in 1940, it soon became known as one of the best military courses in the country but it's also open to the public. Another nine was added to the layout in 1979. The three nines, known as the Red, Blue, and Green, are played in different 18-hole combinations. The Red/Blue Course is the original layout. The classic design is player friendly but at the same time challenging with an abundance of trees lining the fairways and greens as well as tricky elevation changes that make it tough to find a flat lie. Each hole offers plenty of variety.

I have played this course four times since moving here from Las Vegas. And I will say the course conditions are awesome.well worth the money and a very beautiful course to walk
Pay twice
I was charged through golf now, then got to course and they charged me again. They blamed golf now and were not helpful or friendly. Course is great and pace of play amazing but not worth paying double. If playing here don’t use golf now
Tee times
Costumer Service not so good was told they can’t make single player reservations then they put you on standby for 3 hours. That’s fine I’ll just book 5 different tee times with party of 6
Worth the drive
Great but challenging layout and love the fact that this place is also a Audubon sanctuary! I appreciate the cheerful greeting from the starter who happened to be a US Vet. Had the course to ourselves due to rain in the forecast. Definitely worth the drive south!
Excellent Mid Week Course
So the guy at the Tee Off/Check in shed is a bit on the grumpy side. Just his personality, if you chat with him he's not so bad. The Lady at the Pro Shop runs a tight/square operation - and she enforces COVID regs! Otherwise, very hospitable!
If you play mid week/morning - the pace is very great. The spacing in the tee off times were perfect for consecutive 4somes. Quite a few long par 4's, aggressive left dog legs, and well kept greens. Tee boxes for me were tricky, in the sense that if you have a steep downswing, you can really get underneath the ball and pop it straight up. Essentially to say, the grass height/layover can allow you to misjudge your prefered Tee Height.
If you've never played the course, or don't have a fond memory - there are are few blind fairways - in the sense that the fairway may ascend in elevation then pitch down to a beautiful lake....that you cannot see!.
Lastly, man sometimes you thought you were on a simple hike in the swords, because the cart path takes you on a journey that exudes a perfect PNW hike. Love it! This course doesn't seem to get the thru traffic as other courses do, then too, I haven't played on the weekend. Hence, the name of the title.
almost all the greens were in good shape.. Fast & Firm
GREAT FUN COURSE
Love this course, love the staff and the hard work they put in.
The guy that runs the pro shop always seems to be in the worst mood. Guy makes you feel like you’re inconveniencing him by walking in.
