The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie - The Links
About
The Golf Club at Hawk's Prairie offers two 18-hole courses, the Links and the Woodlands. Located just a few miles north of Olympia in Lacey, Washington, the club is one of the best golf values in the South Sound. The Links Course joined the original 18 holes in 1999, providing a stark contrast to the aptly named Woodlands Course. The classic Scottish-links design features open fairways and undulating greens. The layout sprawls north towards the mouth of the Puget Sound. There are some rolling hills but the course is still a nice walk, especially with the views of Mount Rainier along the way. You'll encounter numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout and water hazards come into play on half of the holes. It's a challenging but fair golf course with five sets of tees making it playable for all skill levels.

good course
Course was in good shape. Played twilight on aa Saturday and basically had the course to ourselves.
Good experience at The Links
Enjoyed the course, staff was friendly. Marshals did good job on front 9 but absent on back 9. Got stuck behind a very slow group which stretched out round, but still had a good time.
A good challenge
The layout of the course is excellent. Every hole is different, with it's own challenges. Plenty of water and sand hazards also make it scenic. The fairways could be in a little better shape, but the greens are in excellent condition. I normally shoot around 100, and I shot a 95 here. The Marshall was fantastic! It was a hot humid day, and he gave us wet towels to keep cool with. He came around regularly with fresh icy water to recharge them with. Very enjoyable experience.
Enjoyable course that isn't too easy.
I had played the woodlands 18 but never the links. Greens weren't incredibly fast but were consistent, and fairways were in good shape. I think the course is a bit pricy but still very pretty and enjoyable.
Great staff on a hot day
The staff road around in carts making sure everyone on the course had enough water and wet towels. Outstanding service with a course in great condition. Doesn't get mush better then that.
An Outstanding Course
For a mid-range handicapper, I was definitely challenged by the course. On the most positive side, the greens were true and well the high balls stopped in short order.
Great round
Course was in great shape. We were able to chat with the head pro, Kevin Myers, before the round. He is the brother-in-law of a long time friend and is a delightful guy. We played as a twosome, so occasionally had a little wait...... but no big deal.
Exceptional Day
Unlike most of the courses I have played since relocating to the NW, the pace of play was exceptional, the course was in great shape, and the employees were outgoing and engaging. I attribute the pace of play to the "rangers" that were highly visible throughout our round. We started at 7:36 and finished before noon, NEVER waited on a tee box. I'll be back for sure
Great Father's Day
As always, Hawks Prairie does a terrific job with their staff and services. The links course always in great shape. Pace of play was terrific.
Great Morning
We got there a little early and hit some balls and putted. Started right on time, never waited and never pushed. It was a great morning. the course is in great shape. (Links). The tall grass is very tall and unforgiving.
Great Value Course
My buddy and I play "The Links" side of the course. I think the greens need to be trimmed because they were rather bumpy, but other than that we'll be back this summer. Plus, Bunkers were everywhere which made me think about club selection!!!
Thanks
amazing conditions
The course was in immaculate shape and everyone was very friendly excited to go back
A good time at Hawk's Prairie
Our only negative was one of our golf carts gave out on the 17th tee box, we called the number on the score card and they brought a replacement out within 5 minutes. Also the course Marshall offered us cold towels since it was a hot day and the refreshment cart was frequently available. All in all, a wonderful day!
Links @ Hawks Prairie
For the time of the year (usually pretty rainy) it was in really good condition. Some of the bunkers were a little bit firm, but i've played this course many times before and in the summer it is not an issue.
Great round of golf
The season pass is a great value. The links and the woods give a wide range of golf to choose from. We played the links. It was in great shape and pace of play was very good for a busy day. Would of been nice to see a beverage cart but that is my only nock on the round.
Nice course
Biggest complaint was we had two (2) 5-sums in front of us which really slowed things down. I don't think 5-sums should be allowed.
Nice views
The course is a little wet, and needs some dry weather. Greens are a little slow, but in good shape.
Poor drainage, makes the course a lot more difficult.
Made the mistake of playing the day after a couple of very rainy days. The result was very spongy areas, esp. fronting many greens, a lot of casual water on fairways, and very little ball roll/run. Putting is always hard there, but compounded by the wet conditions.
Otherwise, the course is well maintained.
Plan on returning when the course has been dry for a few days.
TRUE LINKS COURSE WITH WIND AND RAIN INCLUDED
Breezed through the course with no problems. Greens were in excellent shape. (note: they have a $99/ play for 4 month special running now. call pro shop for details)
